Game could have gone either way. On the train going back home to Essex but pleased Spurs at last got their act together at home.

Nothing to choose between the teams imo. Could not see clearly where i was sitting in the west stand if you should have had a penalty late on but it looked like all your fans were straight up appealing which is normally a good indication. Same with Harry Kane at the other end though.

I was impressed with Barclay he looks a terrific player and i am glad he is English.

Spurs did well haunting Everton down but we tired in last 20 minutes and you totally dominated.

Your support was louder than when Liverpool played here.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

I would like to see Martinez, acknowledge today's woeful performance. Today wasn't good enough, and he should say as much. It's really tough to pick a man of the match. Can't be doing with any positivity after that.

I don't think he knows his best 11. This is the best squad I have seen in 27 years of supporting Everton. But the performances just aren't good enough right now. Today we had all of our attacking options available yet failed to really trouble Spurs in the second half.

Players are definitely being played out of position. The result is disjointed performances, with our play lacking the purpose of last season. The backwards and sideways passing reminded me of The West Brom home match last season.

Baines and Coleman are not bombing on like they did last season. To see us lose a midfield battle like today would have been unheard of last season.

He needs to figure out what to do sharpish and put it right for the hull match otherwise we are going to fall behind the rest in the race for fourth place.

We have no chance of top 4. Martinez has prioritised the EL. Win it and everything's panned out well (as long as we have a solid enough league campaign -top 10), mess up though and confidence could quickly drain. We need to beat Hull on Wednesday or the season looks a tad worrying. Massive game now.

This was a big game for us, but I don't feel down about the rest of the season, yes some teams have worked out how to slow us down but we still make chances against any team. I may get shouted down but I wouldn't mind seeing mirallas in the 10 role. Lukaku looks for balls to feet kev over the top will stretch the oppo and allow a stronger midfield.

It was just laboured, slow build-up and poor today. Light years from the brilliant result away to Wolfsburg on Thursday, which to be fair was excellent. We aren't far from the top four and a cease to the the thurs/Sun for a couple of months will allow us to see how Europa is truly affecting us. If we are within the same distance of fourth coming out of the Christmas marathon we will be on for a push as the season goes on no worries, but today was disappointing.

We're not far off if the tactics are right
They were very far from right today unfortunately

I actually agree totally with this. Naismith knows where to find the space and if there isn't any, he creates a bit of space with his angled runs. That's why he keeps scoring against us. He just keeps pulling away from defenders and making angled movements, I like him in the final third.

Naismith is definitely better than Eto'o (wow that sounds weird) but the problem is a lack of width or no-one to link up play between Lukaku and the Two defensive midfielders.

It has been the problem since Barkley has come back and Martinez doesn't want to make the big call... Unless its Europe.

You're being too generous to us there. Both sides very poor-to-average. A couple of the goals apart, there was nothing to get you out your seat. Your lot just about deserved the points.

Don’t games like that do your head in. No fight & slow, sideways passing might get you 60% possession again but no end result. Distin, Barry & Howard at fault for the goals but the annoying thing is after we lost the ball for both goals (near the halfway line) nobody puts a challenge in.

I think we lost today due to poor distribution from Distin.

The first one I have no idea why he decided to hoof it straight back to the opposition. Why don't he just clear the ball off the line or sideway?

The second one he fed Barry who was surrounded by a few oppositions.

If a ball playing defender like Stones would not have made such mistakes.
