Spurs is a "statement" game

People always claim these to be must wins and games that will define our season.

For me they are all must win games, you are quite right about the stupid draws. Think we have more draws than any other top team.

Spurs away is a tough one, they are eager for a result after recent showings.

I think we'll win, as we're better than Spurs.

Also the RS to draw. Level on points then aren't we?

Apart from that, Spurs supporters must go to the match a bag of nerves.

OK, Sherwood has had some good results since he got the job, but 1-5 v City has taken them back to similar recent defeats.

Dont think Lamela is fit.

Not sure why we would be a bag of nerves anymore than EFC fans are. We have a decent record at home & have, Vertonghen, Paulinho, Demblele, Kaboul & Townsend back (Sandro is a big miss though).

Sherwood has done ok, only lost one of 7 premier matches so far. While there is no argument that we deserved to lose to City, the 1-5 scoreline was harsh on us. Hard enough playing them 11v11 let alone 10v13.

A few weeks back WBA was talked of as being our biggest game of the season, now maybe it is this one, with the ****e playing Arsenal good chance they will get nothing and this is one chance neither of us can afford to get anything other than 3 points from. Same if they somehow manage to do Arsenal, anything less than 3 points for either us us will see the ****e start to pull away.
Being at home i would say they are under more pressure than us, they no it wont be easy, but i fully expect us to win!!

The older posters might remember a Saturday in the 86/87 season. We were away to Arsenal and the RS were at home to Wimbledon. We feared that they would make 3 points on us that day but they lost 1-2 and we won 0-1. That was a crucial day in our march to the title. We finished the day just 3 points behind them. Had the results gone as feared we would have been 9 points behind them.

I see some sort of 'symmetry' this weekend. Let's hope for the same result.

Remember it well.

I think it was Sharpie who scored the goal.

(or was it Wayne Clark?)

Although I don't see tha "symmetry" as I for one will be shocked if the RS beat Arsenal on Saturday and back then we were better than Arsenal and Highbury was a mid 80s happy hunting ground for us.

Ive been reading a few Spurs fans saying the team is starting gamea very slowly and in the last game got punished for this. Any truth in this?

I struggle to think of a game where we come flying out of the blocks anyway, so dont know if we would be able to take advantage of this. It would be nice to see an early goal for us for once..

If we play at the same tempo as the arsenal away game we will destroy them first half!

Problem is without a striker they will press us high up the pitch, andcas we struggled to score against villa if they get 1 or 2 we could be in trouble, make no mistake this a very tough game to goo iinto if traore isnt available, as mirallas is wasted as a striker and naismith hasn't the pace to cause their defense problems on the counter.

I'm just wondering why vellios doesn't play if he's not good enough surely we should loan/sell him I like him but he's just wasted while we play naismith upfront

He won't go out on loan, though.

They have tried to loan him out a couple times to lower league clubs.

Looks like he's just running down his contract and living the easy life.

Shame though....he should have had more game time in the middle of last season, IMO, as he looked half decent any time Moyes used him as a sub.
