He had a much better side, just didn't have a striker.
Question is, with the side he had and if he had a decent striker would he have been able to mount a proper challenge for the title.
Imo, no.

So he had a much better side - and about a tenth of the money we've currently spent

Which would suggest either our recruitment was phenomenal under him (it was for the most part) and that he was tactically more astute than all of our managers since then (He probably was)

Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Bernard, Lookman etc wouldn't half benefit from it.

That's one of my only criticisms of having Richarlison up front as I can't think of many times he's actually won and then held the ball up.
