So, Aliens.....

This is what i don't get about it.

not to turn it into a religion thing here but god is in the sky, so we went to the sky and found no god. So how about putting the bloody sticks down and start looking into actually exploring what is out there. Perhaps if god did exist then they could find him on the way? Rather than moan about religion rather than go and prove their god exists somewhere.
What the bloody hell is this? Don't need this jive talking so early on a Monday.

We will never meet other life.

Any existence of life that wars with itself over who has the best God over and over without spending the money used for thst on technological advancements in that area will always be alone.

If they spent the best part of the next 100 years putting war money into research into space travel then perhaps they would get somewhere.
Never thought they might come to us?

I'd be all over Jese Rodriguez on loan. Emery said he can go do it Walshy

lol it is motivation is it not? Rather than quarrel over gods on this planet, go and prove they exist out there instead.

If anything can travel to us from millions of light years away then we are essentially bacteria to them, primitive life forms who have failed to grasp basic understanding of space travel.

That is the way i see it anyway.

The BBC physicist Brian Cox has theorised that the only reason we haven't encountered extra-terrestrial civilisations is because civilisations that reach a certain level of technological advancement (nuclear weapons etc) probably end up killing themselves off.

Humankind itself has come close to annihilating itself before now, most notably with the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. And climate change (caused in part by technology such as cars) looks likely to be catastrophic, too.

There are over 100,000,000,000 (100 billion) galaxies in the visible universe, so there's got to have been some life out there.
It been around for yonks that theory , The Great Filter .

The universe is billions of years old. To believe we are the most advanced species in the entire universe is a tad presumptuous and naive.

And as for the god thing - are you insane? God lives in the sky so let's go look for him? Eh??

Perhaps we should devote more money to arctic expeditions too, we might just find Santa's workshop one day.

I did haha, may have quoted you last week and havent multi quoted since.

I'm talking about that as a motivation for space travel over war. Religion plays so much a part of the issues we as a people suffer from so how about we use that passion about it as a means to further our understanding of space because if god really does exist to so many people, then he/she will be out there somewhere.

Instead of, you know, having wars over who's got the better one.....

This is the bit I don't get. What are you talking about? You seem to be suggesting that god is a physical being.

I am talking theoretically.

God is in the sky, the devil is below the ground. So if you believe so much in the sky god then go and find him, rather than sit on the ground and argue about who's god is greater.

Personally i am an athiest, so don't believe in god. But others do, and some of those war over it, whereas if all that money and effort was put into society to further advance technology then perhaps exploring space and finding life within 100 years isn't too much of a fantasy.

I mean step one is finding a way to get back from mars.....

if those horrible MF'ers come near me I'll poke their 5 eyes in, there's no diplomacy with these fellas. Once your guard is down they whip out the ray gun with the left hand, grab your mother by the neck with the right, finger your sister seven ways with the middle hand whilst darting your missus front and back with both flutes
Preaching to the converted here fella. I've been wearing my missus' frocks for years whilst insisting she has a short back n sides and wears a builder hat at all times. Let them come.

*looks to the skies

*sighs

Have you been taking religious lessons from primary school kids?

If there are aliens out there then I hope we never find them, if we do then we will have one of a few possibilities:

1. We don't understand them so we kill them.
2. Those that do believe in them, sometimes obsessed will try to breed with them.
3. We try to contain them (imprison them) and claim to be the ultimate species.

We destroy practically anything and everything we come into contact with.
