So, Aliens.....

if those horrible MF'ers come near me I'll poke their 5 eyes in, there's no diplomacy with these fellas. Once your guard is down they whip out the ray gun with the left hand, grab your mother by the neck with the right, finger your sister seven ways with the middle hand whilst darting your missus front and back with both flutes
What happens if you haven't got a sister?

The BBC physicist Brian Cox has theorised that the only reason we haven't encountered extra-terrestrial civilisations is because civilisations that reach a certain level of technological advancement (nuclear weapons etc) probably end up killing themselves off.

Humankind itself has come close to annihilating itself before now, most notably with the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. And climate change (caused in part by technology such as cars) looks likely to be catastrophic, too.

There are over 100,000,000,000 (100 billion) galaxies in the visible universe, so there's got to have been some life out there.

Highly probably. Yet due to the vast distances involved, and the laws of science, as we understand them, I do not think for a minute that say have come here.
Of course, maybe we don't understand the science properly.
Well we've got how time works in space, and given the fact that there are close-enough (that we know of, I mean) planets with "earth-like" conditions, it's very likely that there are some similar to us.

But, as you said, due to the distances involved - the travel time between the planets is tens of thousands (or more) of years, they might've already ceased to exist. Or if we somehow manage to see them now, we'll actually see way in their past, so by the time we get to each other, either life forms might be vastly different.

And way before him, Einstein said a thing with similar meaning behind it (the famous quote about the fourth world war).

We will never meet other life.

Any existence of life that wars with itself over who has the best God over and over without spending the money used for thst on technological advancements in that area will always be alone.

If they spent the best part of the next 100 years putting war money into research into space travel then perhaps they would get somewhere.

You'd like to think they'd at least get to space.

This is what i don't get about it.

not to turn it into a religion thing here but god is in the sky, so we went to the sky and found no god. So how about putting the bloody sticks down and start looking into actually exploring what is out there. Perhaps if god did exist then they could find him on the way? Rather than moan about religion rather than go and prove their god exists somewhere.
