The whole thing has become americanised from the commecerial side to the obscene wages to players being forced to get involved in politics of a movement that aims to defund the police. at a time of austerity cuts and a knife pandemic, water breaks, VAR corruption, no fans in crowds its become a joke.

Even the soccer saturday panel - they talked utter rubbish like but Charlie Nicholas aside they actually had a bit of banter and it was good viewing - now we are stuck with oinks like Sherwood, youtuber rude bois and ticktockers.

You'll have that trumpet from AFCTV "Troops" on it next talking in a language only Yannick Bolasie would understand.

Sport is a good way to get a message across. It does seem to have been saturated now and the message that was once strong and powerful is becoming a chore to watch.

The issue with the BLM movement is it’s from the extreme case of racism in the US, which (bar apartheid South Africa) doesn’t correlate elsewhere. Blacks there are largely descendants of slaves, who up until the 60s couldn’t get married to white people, couldn’t sit where they wanted on a bus, and measures were in place to bar them from voting. When the two fellas at the ‘68 Olympics did their black power salute, that was magnificent, and was applauded throughout the world, except for the US where they were ostracised and left penniless. Apparently they were disrespecting the anthem, it’s a slave anthem so deserves it. They have statues and monuments to tyrants who owned black people, eight of whom were presidents, the worst of which, Thomas Jefferson, pioneered science based racism.

Racism exists elsewhere obviously (think Les Ferdinand on his games at Goodison), so a policy that deals specifically with that (no room for racism) is much better for here.

I hate politics in sport. There’s a reason it’s banned... oh wait, not for these politics it seems. It’s that meme of a guy at his BBQ getting screeched at, and he just goes “I just want to grill”.
