Sir Landon Of Donovan

I got cheated - only plays 24 second of the report.

Found it.

Sort it out. Get him on permanently.

Keep Donovan, keep Pienaar and find some cash for the Mout and let that MF run over every team in Europe.

No way we get him in the summer transfer window unless we bid stupid money, money we dont have. MLS never sells players in the summer transfer window, its one of the reasons they might strike.

I was kind of angry he didn't start because he never had a chance to show what he could do against a crap team. Did well though, only about 5 touches and 2 goals produced. Not bad for a left sided player playing the RW.

IMO he's better on the right.

I have to laugh here, because the US sites, like bigsoccer.com, can not even sort it out as to where he plays better, right or left. I have always thought of him as a great left winger. But the fact that there is so much debate, leaves one with the conclusion that he plays BOTH well. And he can play attacking mid and forward, which he may have to do in the WC.
I hope he stays, because I love following Everton. I am missing the Oscars tonight to read what happened today, even though I watched the game. Just had to read.
Everton is a class team and one that is on an upward projection under Moyes. I hope that LD has a place on such a club.

**** that [Poor language removed]. The North American League is crap, simple fact. People in America are Hockey fans, Gridiron, Baseball, Basketball. Soccer is nothing, so if Donovan wants to be a better player he needs to play with 1. better players and 2. better standard of opposition.

Bruce Arena can go suck it.
If the MLS is crap then how does Donovan waltz in and be so good? There are tens of thousands of Galaxy fans that would dispute your claim about American fans.

If Donovan wants to be the best player he can be he should probably go to Spain instead of England if you want to use that line of thought. There is no evidence that Donovan would get better playing at Everton instead of the Galaxy.

Don't worry I am a season ticket holder with the Galaxy and I'll wear your away kit with Donovan's name on it to a couple games.(y)

We watch American soccer every week.
We know the names of every player in each team, and where they play.
We discuss American soccer vehemently in the pub.
We are English, you are American. Therefore we know best about American soccer.:whip:

Didn't you know that? :o:lol::lol:

This was a good post on bigsoccer.

I always felt Donovan's loyalty to American soccer was part of the reason he opted out of Copa America in 2007. He will go down in history as one of the greatest American born soccer players ever to don a National team jersey and one who continually promoted and develop MLS. Donovan is a smart dude, why wouldn't he want the go between sunny California and playing in arguably the best league in the world.

Donovan is a loyal guy, a team guy, and he is not one that will go to another EPL team. He will either go back, because he has to, the Galaxy and then I believe he will come back to England, to Liverpool, to Everton. It is in his nature.

I definitely hope he comes back. Not because one league is better than the other as I like the MLS, I like the EPL, heck I actually have been a Bundesliga supporter longer than anything other.

I want him to come back to Everton as he really fits in here it appears and he doesn't have to have it all on his shoulders.

I don't want him going to Chelsea.:dodgy:

good stuff

Beyond good stuff. I picked Everton as my EPL team to follow for many reasons but one of the chief ones being that Timmy was the number one keeper. Seeing Landon get the captains armband sealed my allegiance for life. Classy coach, classy team, and above all, classy fans. My heart is with Everton for the remainder of my soccer watching existence.

1: LD is a natural player.. MLS had little to do with his development, if anything.. he was 17 playing in Germany..

2: Spain? The EPL is the most challenging league in the World.. Pace, Strength, Balance, Spain has 1 and a half world class teams...

3: Evidence you want? Watch a Galaxy game then watch an Everton game right after.. You should "if you have any knowledge of football" see why playing for everton in his prime is a major, MAJOR step up...

Now dont get me wrong I love our league, CREW supporter here.. But lets say Robbie Rogers were to become consistent in his play and a prem side wanted to play him, welcome him, start him, love him, I would say run and never look back... In 20 years, maybe just maybe you can compare our league to the EPL... Thats a big Maybe though...

What you saw bro was not the captains Armband, easy to make that mistake though he just had a black band on his arm for some reason.. maybe to keep his sleeve in check...

However, Everton took to Donovan like Ducks take to water..
I will be a Toffee long after Timmy and Lando are gone... These boys are Class! COYB

My bad. It still seemed Uber classy. Especially Rodwell going over the top (in a good way) for the assist on his goal. I think his teammates respected him more for that than anything else. Very easy to put it away and sign off on a successful EPL stay when there were doubts to his ability to play overseas after his stint at Leverkusen. I will be very hopeful he stays as he has outgrown the MLS IMO.
