HOLD THE PHONE.

ESPN: "What's next for your future?" (tacky right after his loss)
LD: "Rest, I'm tired, little vacation, and then we'll see."
ESPN: "Back with the Galaxy next season?"
LD: "Oh yeah."

Say what the what?!?!?!?!?!

Oh no! What's this??? Say it isn't so, no more loans!

Q: You going to be back with the Galaxy next season?
Landon Donovan: Oh Yeah.

edit: Kay20 beat me to it.

Grogtank - my jaw just dropped open in disbelief. I'm hoping it was a complete throwaway comment - he couldn't have said anything else as his team just limped off the field. It was kinda throwaway. Kinda.

LCAB - Evertonian/LD fans just had their heart stop. Defibrillate!!!! Defibrillate!!!

Bianca was there. I'm blaming her, he always plays like crap when she's in attendance. /bitter I wanted him to end this on a positive note.

I hope you're right Kay but "Oh Yeah" is rather incisive.

We need lcab here tomorrow for our therapy session. On the other hand I was happy for Brek Shea. Once that kid gets the Gorilla out of his touch he will be fierce.

Yeah, but then again, he paired "Oh yeah" with "and then we'll see" in the sentence before. I think this means "Oh yeah [until David Moyes comes and buys me]."

Or at least that's what I'll be smoking until someone tells me different.

See you at therapy.

P.S. Brek looked awful versus Colombia - he was different tonight, hope it continues for the USMNT.

LD's " Oh Yeah " was the only answer to the question. Do you just tell your fan base after you lost the cup semi-final and say " Well I really wanted this as I will be in the EPL next season " . Hell no that was the only answer he could have given. Plus you see that little smirk he gave right after saying that?

Remember he has said " I would jump at the chance to play in the EPl again " , " I have to be smart I am not going to go on a loan for 3 months and come back and have national team duties and be tired again (not word for word quote but it was said in that context on the DP show link a few pages back) " . I just see this whole thing as a stance that he is happy to stay if he has to, but if we put up the cash he will be here.

LCAB has said he will be here. So until further notice LD has some time off to get rested.

Sorry Kay that your Galaxy lost. They ran into a hot goalie and Dallas finished all their chances.

Wratho - your therapy couch is so comforting and soft and cushy. I like it here. :)

Yeah, I just wish he could have been more vague, stuck to the "we'll see". Sigh. The Galaxy boards are all like "great, he's here next year!". Which to your point, was I'm sure the intended impact, as you're right, kinda tacky if he was vague, and all the fans were pissed at what I'm sure they would spin into a half-assed effort since he was leaving (he had some great shots tonight, but his legs are officially out. of. gas.).

Yeah, bummed about the result, but FCD played quite well and LA deserved to lose. (Though good lord, I thought someone was going to have to lose a limb before a yellow card was trotted out, for either side. Embarrassing reffing tonight).

On a positive note at least he didn't pick up an injury in this last game. Yes, he has the Aussie match, but he'll play all of 20 minutes I'm sure. Even Bruce isn't that stupid.

See you in January Landon. Go sit on a beach, you deserve it.

Does he really need to go to Australia for this toss away match? I think it's ridiculous, particularly if he were to travel all that way and only play a fraction of the game. It'd be very telling if Bruce were to leave him at home to rest. Besides, we all know that Becks is the draw in that match, not Donovan.

He's even on the poster for the match (along with Beckham, Buddle, and Kovalenko). He's also said he's going, so he's going. He's still a member of the Galaxy until further notice, and if you know the Galaxy, you know LD - he's second draw to Becks, but he's still a more known name than the other 90% of players. The business will have him go to sell the seats.

EDIT: Oh, and I hate to say it, but LD knows that if he's going to be in the EPL in Jan, he needs to not stretch himself. He won't go as far as phoning it in on the pitch, but he won't be going all out either. Last thing he wants to do is pick up some stupid knock in an exhibition game.

Surely it's good that they got battered isn't it? Now he has a tiny bit more time to rest up and get himself ready to play us. I predict he will play for is at home to Spurs in January.
As for his comment, what else was he supposed to say?!

It's obvious that when a player is asked a question like that, they would give a response like that. How many times have we seen players say similar then a few weeks or so later they are wearing another teams shirt...
