Sir Landon Of Donovan

Would you rather pay 11 million for landon for another 2-3 full seasons (then he'll lose a step and spend another few years back in the mls then retire) , or continue to loan him for a third to a half of the year and just pay his very (relatively) reasonable wages. From a business stance (and knowing how poor we are) it seems like trying to get him on loan is the best agreement.

Does he make an 11M difference in the team for the 20-30 games a year we don't have him?

Don't get me wrong, I love him in blue and dread the idea of someone else grabbing him (there are plenty in the epl willing to spend 11m on a squad players, much less starters). But if he's willing to continue the loans, I think we're getting a GREAT deal (whereas Donovan for 11M is just a high profile buy - but hardly a "deal").

I still hope we buy him, but the better "business" decision may be to continue loans. I just hope his (hopefully impending) second loan spell goes better than Manny or Jo's did...

He said recently that if you were to ask him right now if he would go on loan come January he would say No. He is Tired.
In the same interview he expressed his desire to make a deal permanent with us.

£11 million?

I love him to bits, but for someone his age. Nah, no chance, surely...

I'm not getting into this , but he really is unique , Old Landy .

He brings with him such marketing possibilities - PARTICULARLY if he were to be successful , that £11m is not a fair figure . It'd work out more like £7m , I think .

Anyway , back to Kay , trawling the internet for the next 3.5 months ,....

11M US is a fair price. If we do have 11M UK we should be buying a striker. Also whether its 11M US or 11M UK I think we would have to sell to buy. Billy? Pinnear? Yak?

After watching the Galaxy's last minute win over D.C United, it was Landon's two goals that secured the win. But it was the switch when Beckham came on that helped sway the game. We all know Beck's loves to play out wide or drift into the middle of the park and dictate the game with his rangy passing and clipped passing - this then allowed Landon to play up front as part of a 4-4-2. At times he drifted out wide and into midfield, but it was forward play that guaranteed L.A the win.

So, with the acquisition of Landon we will hopefully be getting two players for the price of one. An out and out right sided pacey midfielder / winger and a proven goalscoring forward. Yes, the MLS may be on par with the Championship, but he has now proven himself both on the World stage and in the Premier League that the lad is well worth the outlay of $11.

I'm not a huge fan of Leon Osman, yes the guy has pulled out of the mire on a some rare occasions but in my mind he is still not to Premiership standards. But the thought of redressing the balance on that right hand side at his expense, I know I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep if he was sacrificed to the bench in favour of Donovan. I wouldn't even bat an eyelid :)
