Sir Landon Of Donovan

he would add pace. clean passing. and good crosses. he wouldn't necessarily guarantee a full6 points, but he could make it much easier to spread the ball and score.

Don't forget set piece delivery and PKs.

Today vs the Earthquakes (I know, MLS bad comparison, but still), LD had three shots on goal that were saved, two lovely corners, and at least three assists for would be shots on goal that were muffed by his teammates (also had some bad giveaways to be fair). He didn't get LA their three points today, but at least he contributed, and does so consistently (which he did at Everton). Compare that to Bily's game today (though LD has his craptastic days too). Food for thought. I don't think he's the be-all saving grace, but he would help more than what's in place right now!

Xmas per LCAB. I hope we're not in a deep hole by then.

Arteta's job, followed by Baines...sorry LD (you can have corners though..) ;)

Let's face it, lots of players could have helped us early on this season not just LD. I love him and would absolutely love seeing him back in a blue shirt but I think we all know it is pretty much simplified by, we have NO money.

Cool - didn't know whose "normal" job it was since they weren't all that great yesterday. But again, suspect it was just an off day since I've seen enough good replays from the end of last season.

Totally understand the NO money situation since it's been all over the forum - just comparing results for the fun of it. Or not fun - that might be a better word. And other players can help too of course - even other pacey right wingers - just supporting the local boy...

muahahaaaa..... The thread still lives!!!

Stumbled across this article this morining on the Los Angeles Times web-site:

http://articles.latimes.com/2010/aug/30/sports/la-sp-galaxy-0831

Within the article was the only 'official' mention of Landon's plans regarding another transfer to Everton that I've seen in a while:
"Landon Donovan, who apparently will not be making a move to Europe this year because the transfer window closes Wednesday and rumors of a move to Everton or elsewhere have dried up"

Unfortunately for us Toffee fans, it looks like the x-mas tree might be bare this year...

He will be here for X-Mas. I have a source.

Landon's American influence is what caused our slow start. He somehow convinced the team that "football" starts after Labor Day. If I am correct, we come out blazes vs. Man U.

Desperately hope you are right. We can REALLY use him this year...

That was slightly tongue in cheek mate. The source is LCAB. He has stated here and in the transfer threads that LD is in the works for January. If it does not work out other items will have come into play, but as of now from everything I have seen , read, theorized LD will be here in January.

A little update. LD's official Twitter page Avatar changed yesterday. It went from him in his Everton 9 shirt to his LA Galaxy 10 shirt.

I just read that Everton made a late 16M USD bid for Donovan and it was turned down.

Hmmmmmmmm.

If true, MLS are total idiots, all personal bias aside.

Nothing would help grow the MLS more to show the players that you can move from MLS to the Premier League and beyond. Most of the US national team players playing abroad didn't start in MLS and dodged the bullet from the get go. Narrow mindedness isn't going to help MLS grow.

Agreed.

Part of me thinks though that Landon could have forced it through had he been given enough time. No one would have blamed him to be honest.
