Single malts

Ok got my bottle yesterday and tried tonight for the first time....cracking stuff! Got a lovely after taste of cinammon and fruit. Not too rich and a lovely gold colour. Nice and impressed!
Have my Double Wood at half bottle...cracking whiskey. Opening the new Oban I picked up on the weekend.
Coming into Summer here now...will see how the whiskey drinking goes ;)
The 14 year old Caribbean Cask is my next purchase

Glenmorangie Lasanta 12yo tonight. Glenmorangie finished in sherry casks. Nice enough drop. Not as good as their Quinta Ruban or Nectar D'Or Sauternes cask finish, a bit sweet really, kind of custardy and raisiny, like the finish even if it's a bit short.

I like Glenmorangie.

Visited there a few times, go if you get the chance.

Yeah, I quite like their stuff. Seems to be a bit of a "marmite" distillery from speaking to people. My dad doesn't really like them much at all. Well worth a visit I should think, even if just for those really tall gin stills they use.

@Morag took some ace photos of the stills.

She also likes saying Auchentoshan.

Ok. Had the pleasure of opening this beaut on Saturday. Glass on Saturday night and another on Sunday night.
Wonderful. Just a pleasure.
Initial thoughts...is it possible to be able to understand and appreciate that extra 1% alcohol level?
An immediate hit of intensity that cleared my nostrils...then leveling out to a flavoursome sweet, smooth taste that appeared to melt in your mouth and left absolutely no burn at all in the throat. Pure quality.

Thanks for the recommendation. If there are whiskeys with similar characteristics and quality as the Oban Distiller's Edition...please let me know.
