Thanks...so smooth and sweet ObanOban trumps most things it's put up against for me.
Chivas' stuff is good for blends, but they are blends. A better blend would be Black Bottle.
However, if you're spending that money, Oban all day.

The Ardbeg 10 yo, while nice, can be too peated for some, the TCP aspect is possibly the strongest I've come across there
Peat is a sweet, smokey flavour, which I like, given the right mood.Is what you mean the "like drinking charcoal" experience I quoted above?
I miss Johnnie Walker Green.. Swilled that stuff in Oz a few years a go. That was decent. New Platinum or whatever its called is cack.
Agreed. Many have the belief Green is/was the best. You tried Blue?
oh yes..agreedForget the fact that blue is more pricey, the green is superior in taste.
Which is the point, obviously.

Thanks for the recommendation... along with Groucho, 2 connoisseurs of fine whiskey can't steer me wrongCouldn't recommend Oban highly enough, it's beautifully balanced. A touch of smoke and seaweed, bit woody, lovely citrus sweetness.

Not brave enough to spend that much!Agreed. Many have the belief Green is/was the best. You tried Blue?
Maybe we need a campain to bring back green!! @kithnouForget the fact that blue is more pricey, the green is superior in taste.

Have to wonder what JW were thinking discontinuing this line! Quality drinkMaybe we need a campain to bring back green!! @kithnou
Agreed. Blue not good enough to justify its price tag.Get yourself some wealthy friends. One of my friends brings a bottle to nearly every gathering. It's quite good...but thoroughly over priced.
Will go the Oban....looking forward it![]()
Thanks mate. One to consider for the future...54.1% strong? Oulala!!Bit late to the party on this but for a very decent price you might want to consider the Arran 12 year old. Cracking drop at a fraction of the price of similar quality whiskies. Goes down very easily and not overly smokey in flavour or taste.
