Silly Season January 2014

My dream scenario:

Out:
Jelavic
Heitinga
Gueye
Vellios (think he actually might be good, but his reluctance to go out on loan smacks of a mercenary)

In:
McGeady
Rhodes
Gauld
Souttar
Robertson

Rhodes and McGeady to go straight into the first team. The Dundee United boys to be part of the first team squad.

 you need better dreams

wouldn't mind jones to be honest ,

I think I've suggested it before but if we buy him cheap enough surely we can send him back to Chelsea when Lukaku's loan deal is up and they wouldn't know the difference? We therefore get Lukaku permanently for the price of Jones?

We should sign Danny Ings from Burnley.

He is young, seems to know where the goal is and would not fetch a high price. We could use him as back up this season and next season rotate him around with the experienced Kone. If he isn't that good fair enough, we move him on after next year for a few million, but if he keeps improving the way he has been since the summer then he could be better than Rhodes and the likes for us. He is only 21 so plenty of time to learn and improve, not like Beckford who arrived thinking he knew it all.

This is a good shout. I have a soft spot for Burnley and have been to a whole two matches this season where Ings has been a handful. Of course it's a gamble but hey ho we haven't got £25m+ to buy a proven striker in the top leagues.

2 or 3 years ago everyone knew who Lukaku was but it was only Chelsea who took a risk on him because they had the money. There must be someone out there now who is worth taking that sort of risk on for around £10mill. Rather spend it on some Dutch wonderkid than someone like Rhodes.

So I'm not starting a new thread as there's nothing to substantiate this except reports in Ghanaian newspapers but we are linked with Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu from Udinese. I have a mate who's a Udinese supporter and rates him very highly.. holding midfielder though... wouldn't be a position I thought we were desperate for back up in.
