He's tightened a shambolic defence that was leaking for fun into more of a unit, without investing properly.
He's also given Lukaku his best ever goal scoring return by setting the team up to play to his strengths, again without serious spending.
Thats enough to get most people believing, wait until he gets the team he wants

Until we start winning trophies or consistently getting top 4 that is what we will be. An attractive proposition for good young players who see us a stepping stone. But it's up to us to change that. If they go they go. We need to replace them with the possible players we can that hopefully take us to the next level

We are already preparing. Koeman and Walsh will be busy this Summer, and now will confidently know what this team needs.
But that's not the main point. We shouldn't be worried. Had you said we'd lose Stones, Barkley and Lukaku within a year last year the fume levels would be off the charts.
Yet we have a bright future. The next Stones and Barkley are already breaking through. The u23s won the league, and some look like they could make the step up. Koeman was supposedly a man who overlooked youth. Yet he brought in Holgate, Davies and DLC into the team in a period when we were really struggling, and after which we played at our best.
Sure, we'd rather keep the likes of Stones, Lukaku and Barkley. But if and when they're gone theyre gone. As soon as that happens, it's time to forget and time to build again. You change players minds and make them have a desire to stay by building around them. Perhaps Stones, Lukaku and alike were simply here before the project got really going.

Post up both Koeman - the bang average manager CV, and Martinez and his CV Dave - you won't even if dared will you?
I think we have just given the defence better cover from the midfield rather than there being a solid back 4. Our centre backs have all had average to okay seasons and the fullbacks are still easily got at and not great at cutting out crosses. The stats are decent, as is our league position, but watching the team I don't see any big leap in that area. I still feel nervous against any team that attacks us with a bit of quality. But whether it's achieved by more defensive tactics, or by working with the back line, it is a good basis for next season, that's for sure.
Lukaku looks better this season and has scored more, yep, but again I wouldn't leap to the conclusion that Koeman has had worked any wonders in that area. IMO.
Things are better than the last two seasons, of course, but I personally haven't seen anything to make me believe something special is about to happen. It just feels like a solid Everton type season....Everton doing Everton again after a three season break.
I'm a bit tired of normal Everton. I really hope the summer brings something to get us buzzing for next season.
(.....I do know that you are a season ticket holder, and understand it must be a joy to be able to enjoy the experience again but I definitely would be less sure than you of what this manager will bring)

Rom's a giant fanny who plays when he can't be arsed and slags off the club when he can't.
No idea what is wrong with Barkley - maybe there's something going on his personal life, hence getting decked in town - but a move elsewhere would result in him playing a lot less football and getting a lot less leeway. I can't really understand what he's thinking.
Both are very good players, and neither will be easy to replace. You do get the feeling it's time to push ahead with a new team though, and perhaps the likes of Schneiderlin, Gueye and Davies are the current players to build that team around, not Rom and Ross.
God damn, this summer window has got a terrifying amount riding on it.
