That's a fantastic word mate, and I intend to use it in the near future !

As for the rest of your point, although I agree that perhaps the PFA could have said something, now that the club have banned the paper from the club, I don't think any more publicity is required. If, for arguments sake, the Mail had said something like this about another club's player, would we really expect Everton to publicly denounce that paper, or would we think it was a matter between that club and the publication ?

If we're honest about it, we'd leave it to the parties concerned, which is what the other clubs and the Premier League have done with us, so I wouldn't criticise them for doing so.

THE SUN, EVERTON AND LIVERPOOL
The Football Writers' Association is concerned by the recent bans imposed on The Sun by Liverpool FC and Everton FC.

While the FWA understands the upset caused by the presence and views of columnist Kelvin MacKenzie, the organisation feels that its members, the football journalists, are being unfairly punished for actions which have nothing to do with them.

The FWA has always believed in the fundamental principle that all of its members have a right to carry out their jobs and should not be banned because of the actions of others.

Following discussions at National Committee level, we believe the clubs should reconsider these bans and work with the FWA and Premier League to resolve the situation.

...it would actually be good if our neighbours in Manchester supported the Merseyside clubs. Imagine if they were also banned from City and United.

Boohoo to the FWA.
Would be great if more clubs joined in.

The FWA need to agree to print statements from the clubs in isolation, rather than to allow journalistic interpretations.

it was more than one incident which has caused this though, both clubs will give them a lot of good answers as to why.

the thing is, the scum put the article out there in reagrds to their journalist before retracting it once people weren't happy.

How about as a media publication that they publish things that will not cause offence, hell even keep that gobsite away from reporting on anything to do with the city and then maybe they would have a case to stand with.

Not sure why FWA would be arsed though, the paper doesn't get bought in the entire city anyway.

We should sit down with them, them tell them the Sun isnt welcome and they should be telling the Sun to do one, not questioning us

Hopefully Farhad sends a cruise missile into their headquarters for questioning his authority.

There's no winning that argument with people like them because they'll play on the lack of consistency. There's a dog whistle in that regarding continued collaboration with the Murdoch empire in its other guises as it effects English football.

You can leave a comment under this nonsense announcement. I left the following and would encourage others to shut these whiny meffs up.

Employees of a firm are representatives of that organisation as a whole. Everton, for example, have no direct material means of recourse against Kelvin MacKenzie and his vile racism and regional stereotyping. Their withdrawal of support for a publication that allowed such commentary to progress through the editorial process and still emerge with the tone the article carried is therefore one of a very limited number of reasonable measures that could have been taken to protect their staff from this sort of harassment. The s** can continue to cover these clubs without access to their facilities and through the use of freelancers, and the employees of the s** still have another 90 league clubs and a plethora of non-league and overseas clubs with whom they can conduct their business. If your members have a problem with these bans then I suggest they bring it up with the editorial and executive leadership of their publications where maybe they can persuade the non-footballing contributors to moderate their behaviour so that normal relationships can resume once trust is re-established. We all make ethical choices when seeking employment and if someone chooses to work for a publication that unfairly and persistently sought to denigrate and humiliate victims of disaster then they cannot expect to have the same, if any, relationship with the club that suffered at the hands of their employer. The FWA should grow up and seek to build bridges in a collegiate manner rather than try to force the hand of two of the great clubs of this country by some sort of whiny public shaming

Think it is worth mentioning as well the Scum didn't just put the article out here, but they had Him write it and have him insult people of the City at the same time.

so in two articles that tit has called us all drug dealers, murderers, theives,

And the FWA wonder why we boycott them?
