Short corners? a better option than just lump it in??

Bring this back to the top of the pile.
In view of the Fellaini / Shawcross carry on.
The short corner does away with all the standing around in the box not getting penalties for the joy of being bear-hugged

Nailed on.

Lol that's ace.

Hate short corners always come to nothing, near post get a flick on by Jags deep and knocked back in, or into the mixer. I love a good corner me.

When Bily made his debut in Europe and whipped in about 4 cracking corners and we all thought he was going to be ace... good times.

I was just thinking about that too. It feels like we should be better at this (and we used to be better at this and not just because of Cahill). There was an article I read where we do outswingers (or inswingers?) and there are more goals scored from inswingers (or outswingers?) ... so that's cleared that up then ... anyway we should do the opposite of what we are doing (i.e. scoring goals from corners rather than not scoring goals).

hahaha, you okay there mate?

I think the problem is that our corners aren't good enough. As a defender there is nothing easier to defend that a corner floated into the box - it gives you plenty of time to get in the right position to clear it or prevent the forward getting a run at it.
If we are going to increase our success rate, then we need to either fire them into the middle or get a near post flick on.
But I also agree that we do need to mix it up a bit - if all our players are getting bear hugged like at Stoke, then a low cross to the edge of the box nullifys that, especially if our players return the bearhug preventing the defenders going out to close down the ball

I don't think I've ever seen us score from a short corner.

In fact I don't think I've ever seen anyone score from one.

We do them now and again. They don't seem to work too well.
Surely the point of a short corner is the element of surprise... They're fundamentally inferior except for that factor.

There's definitely more goals from inswingers, you just need the slightest nudge on a good delivery and they're in. As decent as Baines is at taking them, my heart sinks when i see him taking them form our left wing position.

Short corners are my pet hate. ****ing hate them. Most of the time you're just left shouting at the tv DAFUQ WOZ DA POINT IN DAT?!

Nobody scores a lot of goals from corners full stop, its a myth that there are teams that specialise and score tons. The argument between short and conventional corners isn't really important.
