it surprises me if Duffy is going backwards. What are we basing this judgement on exactly?

it surprises me to that people on here think shane is goning backwards......i am his father and what i seen happen to him last year i would not say he is goning backwards....this year for shane was getting himself back to full fittness..this is were he is at now....shane played 14 matches last year for the res...this year will be alot different for him,he will hit the ground running in pre-season...and we will take it from there...

It was a sickening injury and I think as a fan of Ireland and Everton I'm just thankful he's still playing. I think a lot of people have expressed a pleasant surprise at how quickly he's recovered from the injury. Hopefully he can push on over the next few seasons. :)

I think most would tend to rate Shane highly on here mate, on the evidance we all saw against Bate.

I think many were surprised when the Burnley manager came out and said that they loaned Shane with a view to signing him permemently - as many thought he was one of our best prospects and surprised the club would allow him to leave.

Mustafi and Nsilia have been on the bench this season, i certainly would have tipped Shane to be ahead of them, i suppose given all that many assumed that Shane has fully recovered from his injury, his development has been halted, or Davey just doesnt fancy him.

Have to say anytime ive seen him ive been impressed.

You must be very proud of him.

I very much hope he can break into the 1st eleven this season (or the next)....

Mustafi should be a top player, think he just one of a couple of youngters we got over the last few years so possibly we should have a group kids coming thou to save coin ....... Mustafi, garbutt, vellios, siva, plus with barkley and baxter hopefully if at least 2 of them become 1st team players a few ££ can be saved.

Bill? Is that you?

young 19 year old c/halves are far and few between in the prem....with the exception of jones[and i thought shane was just in front of him before his accident]...neiler i know for a fact shane needed to recover this year and now the hunger is back in him.....it was a real nasty accident...and surgeoan and doctors told us he would be traing last year never mind playing...i have been watching him doning his own pre-season here and i am blowing away with him.....he is fit and raring to go this year....he knows this could be a big year for him so hopefull he will have the year he is hopeing for.....

How well do Shane and his partner Mustafi complement each other....could they BOTH step up into the prem ?

personally i think they are great together.....the full year they played together at u/18s they never conceded in god knows how many matches....but unfortunatly with shanes injury and indeed when shane got back playing last season donny as they call him got injuryed then....if the 2 of them play as much together this season,it will bring them on leaps and bounds....i cant see moyes putting the 2 of them on loan this year, both are not ready for the prem....there has been a few clubs looking for shane on a full years loan this year, but thats up to moyes...one way or the other shane has to get a lot of football this year....some where

Very brave kid , horrendous injury to suffer , hope he continues his recovery next season , I don't think the injury will halt him from the outside looking in he strikes me as a similar in character and bravery as James Vaughn , he would run through brick Walls for his team , would be great if he had a right go next year pushing for the first team , fingers crossed

I think Shane needs for definite to get some loan experience and first team football. Hopefully he'l pick up his progession and become a quality prem cb with mustafi.
