Sharpy’s return

I agreed with all that - we were so poor our gates were low really low - so any of the players would have heard direct criticism with cushions being thrown at HK in the Dugout too... what he stated was a true fact it was a club in trouble that rose from the phoenix

Yeah, it was true that our gates were down. One of the two major reasons for that was a chronic lack of success for 12 years or so; the other was mass unemployment.

I have no idea why Sharp wanted to underline that Goodison was taking so few fans in compared to the (reduced by then) capacity, other than to have a dig at fans.

In the process he underlined what a divvy he is for not recognising the difficulties people had getting to a game the when cash was very short for many.

Plus the early days of HK we were so poor fans wanting him & Carter out - HK garage daubefd with that message!

“At the start of November Paul Bracewell left the club and Colin signed Peter Beagrie. For me, that just summed up how far Everton Football Club had slipped.”

That’s a quote from his book. I would ask him, for everything he has witnessed especially the last decade or more, had standards risen sufficiently since then at Everton?

Good players being replaced by average ones.

Standards?

OH!! So it was HIM who was the injured party.

I see. Well that's ok then if he thinks that.

He "was cast into a maelstrom" not of his own making. Proper Greek tragedy this.

He says he wanted to attend the games but was stopped....but he couldn't make contact with the fans directly because...why? There's plenty of fan media out there he could have contacted to put the record straight.

Here's why he didn't = because he thought the fans would just back down and forget about it and he could just return with his mates after telling a load of lies about them.

He's only sorry about one thing: that our fans stuck to their guns and proved to him and his rancid mates on the board that they were no match for them when they stay united.

The stink of this media rehabilitation campaign is putrid.

And shame on the Friedkin's for trying to hand him a free pass in again. They've done themselves no favour with that stunt.

Kept his gob shut and got his boardroom perks and status.

Sounds like this Friedkin lot might hand the him back.

Even if what he said was 100% correct, why say it? A doc paying tribute to one of the greatest stadiums on planet earth. It’s like giving your best mates eulogy and talking about the time he cacked his pants on a stag do. Classless, spiteful individual

For anyone saying the grief he is getting/got was unwarranted, take it a bit more personal. A mate of yours tells you your bird shagged someone. "Trust me". You know for a fact she hasn't, wouldn't you have some resentment towards that person for trying to promote something you know is a falsehood? He still doesn't think he did anything wrong.

If that mate had been part of the team that gave me the best time being an Evertonian then I would cut him some slack.

He could come in my house and do a dump in the middle of the floor and I'd still shake his hand and thank him for the memories.

He was an arrogant sod when he played but nobody was complaining back then.
