Sharpy’s return

I see Graeme Sharp, our leading post war goalscorer returned to Goodison Park today.

I’m all for forgiveness, especially for someone so high in stature here.

I’m not trying to excuse anything nor fan any flames. I know Richard Buxton has come under flak for this recently.

I’m fine with it if he wants to draw a line under it and continue being a part of a club he helped shape in some ways.

Thoughts?

He repeated a narrative that was told to him. All he has to do is say he made a mistake. Who hasn’t made a mistake in life.

His mistake was underestimating the feeling of a growing number of fans.

Let’s not forget this was a man who has been aggressively arrogant and dismissive of fan complaints and any type of scrutiny, from his time on the legends phone in and his time at the club.

“One man and his dog”

He could of took a pragmatic approach but he didn’t.

The worst thing is in his book he bemoaned the lowering of standards before he left Everton as a player and then condescended Evertonians for feeling the same years later.

He knew what he was doing.

His remarks left a very bitter taste. It does remind me that sometimes if you have nothing good to say, you say nothing.

He tarnished his reputation in my opinion. The club needed truth and honesty then, from within and without, but most critically from within. Perhaps that asks too much of mere mortals at times.

I very much saw a board member then rather than a former title-winning player, and yes, a legend.

That said, I believe the world is a better place if there is reconciliation and harmony. I have nothing against him that's worth holding onto. So if a page is turned then it's a good thing. He can come to as many games as he likes.

Spot on mate.

That lot in that boardroom utterly despised Evertonians and treated them like either kids or like something they'd stepped in. A shower of wasters and wage thieves.

I'm enraged someone at EFC believes Sharp has served his time out of the club and is allowed back here.

Not a word of remorse from the 'kin scumbag either.

There can only be a page turned when he clears his throat and issue a full apology. Even then he can GTF as far as I personally am concerned.
