We are talking about a player in Duffy who had five prem games for us and imo was MOTM in three of them - lets face it if he had stayed he would be used now - all this sour grapes for the lad saying he was no good old type centre back etc is gash imo oh and he scores too - good in the air just what we need - from set pieces, and long balls pumped at our back four as we have had a problem with any of our centre back pairings in the air - I stated when he left us it was a mistake - hope he does well at Rovers and they get promoted to prove everyone wrong!

I dont know many people saying he is crap but in fairness most would say he is an oldfashioned type CB so theres nothing wrong with that. He definitely wouldnt seem to be a Martinez type CB..only Stones and Alcaraz would seem to fit that description.

So given we had 4 CBs to choose from, I wasn´t in the slightest bit surprised Duffy was let go when somebody came with a decent offer for him. I don´t see what the mistake was, he is not the sort of CB we will go for when we replace Distin and Jags wouldn´t you say.

And he cant be blamed for not knowing those two would start the season so badly or that Stones would get crocked. The Alcaraz injury was probably more predictable, but given he was 4th choice of 4 its pretty normal to take the risk on his injuries .

As an Irish Evertonian I of course would love to have him still at the club and playing, as its good for the national team, but I fail to see any mistake or bad decision in letting him go.

Dont need to tell me mate im a fan of Shane, i dont really write players off before they kick a ball, i mean Baines was released as a kid werent he ? His is certainly good enough, i mean chelsea for example sell players for a profit then with the likes of Matic, they have to pay top dollar to eat some humble pie, they said he werent good enough and they were wrong. I would take Duffy over Alcaraz all day long.

Fact remains that at the time of his departure he was 4th in the pecking order after Jags, Distin and Alcaraz, and Stones had been selected for England and clearly likely to jump well ahead of him.

It has proven to be that we could probably do with him at the moment, but we were holding back a lad who we might or might not need, and he deserves a career.

Lastly, there's no way I could ever wish to see Blackburn promoted, former players or no former players.

Thought he was one of our better players in preseason, impressed me and looked much improved on the ball, obviously he was 4th or 5th choice behind the third best defence in the league so fair enough he wanted to go and play football. Hindseight is a wonderful thing, no doubt we wouldve kept him, or he wouldve stayed to break through if we'd have known how bad form and injuries wouldve played a part so far
