No.

We are giving away crap goals with balls into the box. We need someone who can dominate in the air as its not been happening.

Hopefully Duffy could provide that.

You use your superior players to push the opposition back, the balls aren't played into the box, and the "big man" has to drop deeper to connect with the hoofs and is less of a danger on the second ball.

You take away the potential problem before it's an actual problem.

That won't happen if we go 1-0 up, and we drop low to defend that massive lead.

Look at the goals we've conceded recently

You don't solve that negatively, you solve it positively.

That sounds like "management speak" but in football it's true. The primary goal shouldn't be worrying about what Oldham can do to Everton, it should be what Everton can do to Oldham.

Confidence is massive in football; if you tell your players you're panicking like hell about route one football from Oldham then you invite panic stations from the start.

Well, that's why I don't believe Moyes is a mid-game tactician.

David Moyes is a very conservative manager.
Sometimes,it works for you in that he spends scarce resources very carefully and his record in the transfer market is as good as anybodys.
Sometimes it works against you when his conservative nature means he will not take a risk and put good youngsters into the team.As time has gone by he has become more conservative and simply will not give younger players a chance to play.Any of our younger players have had to go out on loan to get first team experience.Coleman,Duffy,Barkley and Garbutt to name four.
Duffy has been badly treated this season not played and not loaned. This season is basically a washout for him..this is even more frustrating when you consider that our defence leaks goals for fun and he is played behind Heitinga who just isn't interested in Everton any more.

I remember you posted around November time (somewhere) saying Shane asked to go on loan and Moyes told him he'd get his chance in a few weeks. Was there any reason given for why he wasn't given a chance? Unless he's been injured, it's ridiculous the way he's been treated.

moyes did talk to shane and told him he cant let him go out on loan,he was all set to go to middlesbrou be moyes said no....he changes his mind like the weather....but we have got to go with what he says at the end of the day,if he does not get out before the season is over i will put it down to a complete waste of a year....even stubbs has told him he is well ready to step up to the plate....just a bit of luck needed i think..

Whats your impression of Stubbs and how he manages the reserves?

Thanks for replying. Hopefully he gets that bit of luck soon.

That's one of my biggest gripes with Moyes, 18-22 are massive development years for younger players but Everton either don't give them enough of a chance or don't utilise the loan market enough.

i met stubbs a few times and he seems to be a sound lad no messing around with him he would not be long telling the young lads when the step over the mark.i can only talk about how he treats shane and believe me he has had shane close to tears in his early stages, its a tough job he has but the players really look up to him and rightly so.

Fantastic, thanks for the insight Brian really appreciated. Hope he gets a start soon
