Hes been called up a few times for internationals! As for the other points you could say the same for Ross Barkley.

I think people forget that Duffy suffered a horrendous injury a few years ago where he is lucky to be still alive. It put him back years.

Fixed, good point though, can easily forget that.

He had a bit of a shocker against Vienna, hopefully Martinez judges him on more than that, i'd like to see him on loan at a championship club to see how he'd fare, thing is, he might not get picked every week in that division either.

Don't really agree with the Barkley comparison. Barkley's weakness's are lack of experience and confidence, which will improve with game time. He has ALL the attributes needed to be a top player, whether he puts it all together is the question. Duffy has weakness's he can't improve on no matter how many games.

Barkley has played every level of international football his whole career. Duffy has been in and out of a poor quality Ireland u21 side and has never got nr a senior side with such quality as st.ledger occupying the defence!

Some just seem to think we have this hidden jem, that's being ignored by our ex manager and now the new one. That he is good enough to replace international defenders in a team challanging top 4-6. That good that even tho we are missing a trick not playing him....Everyone else from other clubs and on the international stage are also missing a trick.

I really hope he goes out on loan or permanent and properly starts his career. He deserves it and I think he will be a good but limited CB. Championship perhaps being his level. Could be higher eventually but he really needs to go out and start his career and unfortunately that can't be with EFC.

Just as some people have made him out to be a world beater, I equally have issues with anybody being able to say that the "Championship perhaps being his level". He's made a handful of appearances, how can anyone judge a player, for good or bad, based off that? If you can, you're clearly in the wrong job and wasted posting on internet forums.

I much prefer the wait and see bracket.

I think as we saw a few more of our kids rejecting contracts at everton to take their chances in the lower leagues, you can make an argument for moyes being poor at developing youth, he just doesn't have the confidence in them, Berto even nailked the age group were we fail our youth most in this country

I'd like him to break through to the first team, or become a Premier League CB elsewhere but I can't really see it.

I won't feel too bad for him if the Championship turns out to be his level, he'll still make a good living!

Wise words well said.

The comparison is perfectly legit to what you said about him not getting games, nobody coming in for him and not getting international caps. All the same apply to Barkley. Doesnt make him a bad player.

I agree that some seem to just assume Duffy is great without even seeing him, in the same way some assume he is crap without really seeing him either.

He does need to at least go out for a season.

He has been called up for full Ireland squads by the way, he just hasnt played. He is only 21 though...

I expect to see Duffy, Barkley and Stones feature against Stevenage.

I would love him to be the next Dave Watson. Fingers crossed.
