Shane Duffy

Speaking on social network sites saying he 'probably won't get a chance' doesn't exactly shine light on the club does it? He should focus on his game rather than talking on Twitter... then maybe he will get a chance.
Unless he's too busy tweeting to train, then the two things are not mutually exclusive.

Erm it has no reflection on the club or indeed the player at all....

So Duffy insinuating he's been told he isn't going to get an opportunity has no reflection on the club at all? I'm pretty sure he would have been told in private if he wasn't getting a chance here, and then to publicise it online isn't very professional.

I think everyone bar Moyes knew Shane should have been out on loan last season. It was obvious when Hibbert was brought back in before him that he was 4th or 5th choice.

A season in the championship will either tell us if he's good enough or if we can get a bit of money back for him.

....I suspect it'll be a similar story to Peter Clarke and Sean O'Hanlon. Good centre backs who found their level and went on to earn a decent living in the lower leagues.

IMHO:

1) He should have been played over Heitinga last season.

2) He's too slow and un agile (is that a word?) to make it in the Premier League (at least with Everton) but will be a beast in the Championship.

3) Some people are over stating how good he was when he came in a couple of seasons ago. He was good but not Cannavaro.

4) He seems a sound lad who has a bit of a laugh. Not too arsed about his twitter.

First 2 points : fair enough.

thrid point : Who? Find me some quotes were people said he was Cannavaro, or similar. Seems like its more people making up the claim that people said he was like the best defender ever when he played those 3 and a half games.

Its more like people saw an inexperienced young defender come in for his debut and not look out of place in the team in a position which is one of the hardest to look good in at that young age. And you don't do that if you're crap, you do that if you're a decent young defender with a lot of potential.

Can't be arsed finding them but there's been people on here saying he was good enough to play permanently which isn't the case.

I wouldn't disagree with you really. He looked good.

Whenever I've seen Duffy play for me it's been his passing which has let him down. Unfortunately for him, Martinez likes his defenders to be able to play a bit more than say our defenders under Moyes, so I can't see him forcing his way in until that improves.

with the gareth barry thread still fresh in my brain...im gonna be iran in my opinion and say hes just 5hit.

Launching Nukes Eh???

I think he needs to have a season on loan in the Championship for us to know for definite. He's got enough about his game to make a career at a good level though. Just attacking the ball the way he does at set pieces is worth a career in the championship.
