Just looked at their lineup, and some obvious players missing for them are Mateta, Quaison, Gbamin, Kunde, Niakhate, Latza and Fernades as well as new signing Pierre-Gabriel. Not sure of injuries and such keeping players out.
Probably saving them for us

Sevilla 4 Mainz 0..............making it more and more difficult for Everton. Now we will all expect a similar scoreline and we know it ain't gonna happen.

Two things here: 1) I think that's the gameplan, playing between the full backs and playing it wide; 2) he held the ball up well just now, including the play in the channels which is another form of the same thing.
It's definitely how Silva has always liked to build out when in possession, but the CF has to be more involved.

He had a moment or two in the second half, but we already know that Siggy is more of a one-touch trigger guy. DCL has got to get go the ball more often and play the ball back to Siggy when he can make a pass facing the goal to spring someone. We can get over the half way line fine, Gomes and Delph to a lesser extent were working well at least on the left side - Mina was almost doing it himself with his passing on the right. But once it's in the opponent's half, there's acres of space that we can't seem to get into. I'm sure the player are a bit leerly of putting it in there, too.

At the end of the day, Mainz are a small club (and that is no insult, they are a great football club and very well run), and a small budget team, who's main goal is to stay in the league. They buy to sell, that's how they get along!
They'll probably all start against or kids and Schneids.

If I had to rank who ended most of the promising moves in that game I would have said Sigurdsson get the gold medal by a long distance, Bernard pips Walcott to silver, and DCL wasn't even near the podium.
