We got into Europe and in typical Moyes fashion bottled a glorious opportunity of winning the then Uefa Cup in 2008.

I remember being so excited that we were in the Champions League...then it seems we were out embarrassingly of everything by September and I felt worse than if we'd never been it. It was like we didnt deserve nice things and got punished. I swear for me THAT was the beginning of the malaise and we became " a small team living in the past". . Not sure thats exactly the way it happened but that is how my brain processed it over the years...
