2025/26 Seamus Coleman

What a brilliant photograph

But i think a proud smile might fix it better

What's noticeable there besides the great goals is how many we committed to attack under other managers after Moyes left.

We played some great football under Martinez and even Koeman.
Committing all those players to attack coincided with us (starting from the first manager post Moyes who you idolise) in us becoming a regular bottom half and relegation scrapping club.

Weird if that’s what you are yearning for.

Also, just for info, Moyes last season with us had a higher xG than any manager that followed him.

Moyes won the xG title. 🙌

The quality of our football under Martinez was levels above what Moyes ever produced. I dont think there's anyone who'd deny that in all seriousness.

And I'm not sure what Martinez in his three seasons here where we attained our best ever season points-wise, reached 2 domestic cup SFs, a last 16 in the EL and two mid table finishes had to do with lowering standards from Moyes' dismal and fruitless 11 year spell here.

Coleman thread, don't ruin another thread with your unhealthy obsessions with Martinez and Moyes.

“The culture was not as bad as it might have been viewed externally,” Moyes explains. “There were players here who fit the Everton DNA. Seamus was driving that. I could give you numerous examples of Seamus really getting into the boys on the training pitch, demanding they meet certain standards and digging them out if they didn’t.

“I saw the characters here to have a real go, not just at getting away from trouble last season, but to build on it this season. But if you ask me to name someone who has kept what we know as Everton going over the last few years, it’s Seamus.”

💙

'certain standards' - and yet we never won a damn thing in all that time!

Sooner this guy is gone the better, a new broom is what is needed.

Ther are other standards than just winning. We all want players that put 100% effort in, every game.

Coleman is somebody who did that, and that is obviously the standards Moyes is talking about, but I suspect you know that.

Yeah, including him.
I remember when we got a 'real' winner in to enforce high standards in the dressing room and be a leader within the squad. He had plenty of experience winning trophies, and was actually a bit younger than Coleman so surely would be around for years. Fabian Delph.

He retired 4 years ago, disliked by just about everyone in football. Coleman is still going, and is constantly talked up as a great captain and guy to have around the club.
