2025/26 Seamus Coleman

Using to stay in shape to play for his country. It was a sweetheart deal from Moyes because it was leading up to the WC...great deal for him, woeful for Everton.
Maybe he's going to become Moyes's number 2? so that and his influence in the dressing room might well have made it money well spent.

Moyes is choosing to play a CB at RB over an international RB like Coleman.

That's down to him. Just another one of his clueless decisions.

If we can get shut of the Patterson dud for even a couple of million we should be looking to get a new starting RB in and retain Coleman for another season and hand him the Euro games for his vast experience playing foreign opposition if we qualify for Europe.

That'd be the sensible way forward here at this RB position.
RTE ratings

Seamus Coleman 8

Stalwart. Defensively faultless and drove forward in attack. Rescued Ireland when he darted in front of Schick to intercept a low cross and win a free.

Perhaps his only bad moment in the first half was when he failed to control a long diagonal in the corner but it was asking a lot of the man.

Played the full 90 minutes and was still at the coalface in the early part of extra time until he could give no more.

He should have ben used a lot more by Moyes than he has been this season.

Played really well last night and lasted a lot longer than most players would have when coming into a big game without match fitness.

He gave everything for his country and he'll be really upset not to have been able to get the result they needed, so it's really strange to read our supporters choosing today as a day to insult him. Thankfully it's just the online cranks who choose to disrespect him in this way and he's still treated with the respect, affection and gratitude a player like him deserves by the match going fans.

The fact his comeback performance against United was cut short by injury might have led Moyes to question whether Seamus can be relied on - last night he showed he's still got it in him. Hopefully we get to see him in the starting line up between now and the end of the season.

Indeed.

On track for our highest league finish for 8 years without him playing btw. Stew on that for a bit.
