An unsavoury character had disrupted the most civilised discussion about Coleman and his continued value to EFC relative to salary with unsavoury conduct.

There's a few who take that stance, others say it's a wasteso they’ve moaned as we still employ him?
TBF I'm not so sure it's about Coleman blocking the path of someone else so much as it's a complete opposite of words/actions in "new era" Everton. For all the talk of ambition and we're gonna do this and that, the club seem to want to retain everyone and anyone they can no matter what (contract offers for DCL, Doucoure, Keane, Coleman etc) when it's clear as day Seamus can't really get through a game of Prem football any more.….not sure why posters think he was given a contract extension to save us buying another RB, indeed we tried to sign Kenny Tete.
For those that are unaware, Coleman is a major influence for good in the dressing room, that’s the main reason he was offered a new deal. I just don’t see why some are in the least bit concerned about him, he’s not blocking the route of a new signing and it sounds like he’s doing the job Moyes wanted.
Bit of an odd discussion.
Yeah but he's not Irish. If he was - there would've been banners and Tshirts already. You ever read the Patterson thread fella? All sorts in there
His influence in the dressing room will be vital for this three day turnaround to prepare for our next game after such a poor performance yesterday. No doubt he'll be working tirelessly to lift the players spirits and get them up for the game. We're lucky to have him.
AntiSeamitic…It's apparently anti-Irish to criticise a player
I think the solution would be to make him player-coach, easing his transition to post playing career.TBF I'm not so sure it's about Coleman blocking the path of someone else so much as it's a complete opposite of words/actions in "new era" Everton. If Moyes wants him in the dressing room for his influence and importance behind the scenes, thats one thing (and also fair enough), but to pretend a guy who managed 5 games last year contributes on the pitch or warranted a new deal for on-pitch reasons is a stretch. What I do find odd is people saying he should voluntarily say no to a few million a year in his pocket when it's being offered in exchange for very little when we all know we'd all take the money too.

He's been a constant in a squad that has had some of the worst teams in our history. He's also been our captain during the longest trophyless run in our history. Whatever he's been doing, it hasn't worked by any objective criteria. We are the most nostalgic fanbase in modern football, which is weird because we have nothing in the past 30 years to feel nostalgic about. Sooner or later we have to move on from the failed experiment that has been the premier league era of Everton Football Club. Many of us hoped new owners and a new stadium would be a catalyst for that but the new owners re-recruited a former manager (who didn't win anything during his long tenure here first time) and re-signed our captain (who has also not won a thing in an even longer tenure) who's body is not up to the rigours of top flight football. If you keep doing the same thing, you will keep getting the same results. And here we are, in the bottom half of the table as usual.….which might have made the difference.
Crackers thread this.
Phase out and replace with a RB that can defend and go forward, Jon Aramburu of Real Sociedad:
He had a poorly hamstring this week, cut him a bit of slack please.By this metric it's Colemans responsibility to have "worked tirelessly" prior to the Newcastle game to "raise their spirits".
Iroegbunam looked like he'd been on the lash all night and the defence looked like they'd been out with him.
Why didnt Coleman have them all fired up?
Now, im not serious about this, but if Coleman is being held up as this master motivator then surely hes not only being paid when we lose, is he?
