2025/26 Seamus Coleman

Only one who should be embarrassed is the club who still retains a player on a top wage who has been finished for at least 2 years. Would any other club in the league give a new contract to a guy who played 5 games the year previous? It's a few million quid in your pocket for virtually nothing, would you say no?

I agree it’s on the football club for offering to pay someone £50k a week to get fit for his national team. I’m not sure any other team in the league keeps decrepit old players around on a playing contract to be a mascot.

Not in the slightest. Fair criticism is fine. Some of the bile is just totally unacceptable - and from some really unsavoury characters. Anyway. Captain fantastic will hopefully get back to fitness and prove the doubters wrong in a final season or two.
You're a total prick

Pipe down peado Jack.

Better for this lad to be kept far away from Moyes and likes of @Marius57

I am utterly intrigued by your definition of unsavoury character based on the above. This might be worth a thread of its own. Charlie's guide to being unsavoury.

Tell you who isn't unsavoury, Seamus. Clearly a very good man, but his time at the top level is surely over. His body doesn't seem to be able to take the rigours of a run of games. Mind you, neither can Rohl at the moment.

Hadn’t seen that last one that I’m assuming they are trying to insinuate the same thing as the previous comment. Which is slander that they just got banned for.

Should retire mid-season and force the club to sign a RB.

….not sure why posters think he was given a contract extension to save us buying another RB, indeed we tried to sign Kenny Tete.

For those that are unaware, Coleman is a major influence for good in the dressing room, that’s the main reason he was offered a new deal. I just don’t see why some are in the least bit concerned about him, he’s not blocking the route of a new signing and it sounds like he’s doing the job Moyes wanted.

Bit of an odd discussion.

That's the most important point to make mate. If he was, there'd be a semblance of rationality to the two or three on here rounding on an Everton giant like this.

There is no RB at the club and when we do get one in Seamus will simply revert to the coaching role waiting for him.

I just dont get these two/three people.

It's more odd you think this matters. We've been in a relegation battle for about 10 years with him being this good influence.

He wasn't but it was quite clear for me from that Kinnear interview that we felt that we didn't need to go back in for a RB because we felt we had enough cover there with Coleman/Patterson/JOB/Garner. Coleman isn't reliable as a player anymore. Been one of the best ever signings in the PL but it's time to retire. That gets one of them off the books. Hopefully Patterson follows that by being sold and then if we don't sign a RB the club are just moronic.
