Seamus Coleman isn't up to it.

In defence of myself, he was gash at the time.

Thing is though, he wasn't! The correct answer was on page one of this thread - when you've got Hibbert behind you and Neville next to you in midfield, you could be Cristiano Ronaldo and still be made to look crap.

Nah, he was deffo crap.

He used to just get the ball, put his head down and run into defenders. He couldn't pass a ball either and his touch was horrendous. Happily that's all changed now.

Harsh.

What exactly can he do when he has no support and no one to cross to?

Oh and well, he's a fullback. Not a winger. Play him at RB please.

His end product needs work but to be fair most wingers bar the truly world class need a fullback in support to help them. It's tough taking people on directly, on your own. And when Tony Hibbert is your support it's arguably tougher than doing it on your own!

But anyway, I've said for ages he's better on the overlap. There's a reason Baines plays at LB and not LM, after all.

To be fair I don't think OP is scapegoating Coleman at all. Seemingly he's had these criticisms for a while.

Perhaps it's bad timing as Coleman wasn't bad today at all, but I actually agree on some level. I think he's a fairly poor right midfielder. I just think he'd be a good fullback. Certainly better than Hibbert.

About time the vaults didn't make me look like a tit.

I've had a few here so excuse me if this is completely wrong but today's performance against Arsenal has just confirmed it for me:

Seamus Coleman is sh*te. Why do people seem to like him and think he's 'the future' or whatever? Maybe one day he's going to be an decent right back one day, but at the moment he just runs into blind alleys and loses the ball. He's like a f**king headless chicken. Plus his crossing and his shots are abysmal. I'd rather have Barkley and possibly even Gueye there instead.

Yes, he puts great effort in, is physical and always has a go without fear, but that just isn't good enough for me. Of course we'd have better players there in future if we had money. But I think we've got better at the moment.

Views lids?

Edit: I've got to say like, he is great for the money we payed. I just don't get why people are saying he's going to be a great first team regular in years to come.

Just lol!

We wouldn't sell for less than 11M. So he's probably worth that much. Good thing about this club, yea we are skint but unless your name is Yakubu we rarely sell low.

In fairness to the OP, I'm fairly confident they've never been happier to be wrong about something.

Much like myself with McCarthy.

But nevertheless.... ahhh lad you prophecised the future wrong tehehehe

Hmmmmmm

He is just so boss and so much steeped in what Everton means to us.....for a lad who joined rather than came through the ranks as a kid.

First half today was not good but to come out in the second half and play as he did shows real cojones.
