Seamus Coleman isn't up to it.

Sorry yeah, totally at fault for that goal. Cause and effect obviously. He gets cover because he's got balls, he gets forward and he will put a tackle in. He's only been playing right back for us for a few games. If Jelavic and co sorted their act out upfront there wouldn't be half the complaints.
 

Coleman may have been at fault for the goal but during the game he made a very important challenge to deny Reading an opportunity when the game was locked at 1-1. He gives away the penalty which cost us the game and the fans give him hell. We are starting to sound like Kopites!! We have lost our first game since September the 1st and it is not the end of the world but we will bounce back and Coleman will always be one of my first choices for an Everton jersey.
The game as at Fulham should have been put to ged earlier but we could not find the net which is not Coleman's fault but is anyone criticising our forwards?

Gibson being out can't be helped but if I was Moyes I'd drop Heitinga for Distin or preferably Duffy since Heitinga's slow and hasn't been doing well in the air or on the ground recently, at least if we had a tall defender alongside Jags we might be able to deal with aerial balls better plus Duffy and Distin aren't slouches when it comes to dealing with threats on the floor.

I have said for months, we need to let him make the mistakes.. then we have an attacking right-back for 4-5 years in his prime..
Its horrible to watch him make these mistakes, but I hope it pays off long term..

Hibbert has had injections Etc this week, and was nowhere near being fit enough to return today..
 

Coleman tracked Le Fondre (unlike his defensive colleagues) but he just didn't get off the ground. For the penalty Le Fondre did go down easily but Seamus should have known that such a challenge was unnecessary.

It's odd that we've had such a good defensive record in previous seasons with largely the same personnel but at the moment there seems to be no organisation or communication. I think that Coleman probably saw danger with the setpiece and tried to head it off whereas maybe Jagielka and Heitinga were hoping to catch Reading offside.

Where as the keeper was again static on his line, an identical goal for the on the goofy git got in the Derby - our defence needs Duffy!
 
If the keeper had come out, he wouldn't have gotten there. And everyone would have faulted him for not getting there. It's poor marking and nothing else.
 
No existing marking more like Coleman was the nearest man to him where were our two centre backs?????

Duffy needs a chance we need a dominating centre half along side Jags JH is so poor!!
 
Struggling to understand this, Readings 1st goal; Coleman was marking him and ran with him into the middle(good) but failed to jump or pressure him, giving him a free header(bad). Gave away a soft, needless penalty(bad). Was he at fault for both goals, IMHO yes! Did he give us much going forward today? I don't think so. All in all I think he had a bit of a shocker. However I'm not going to alight a bandwagon, I hope he plays against Norwich, but if he messes up next week. I will be calling for Hibbo to replace him.

He is injured ! There is no other option whether you like it or not.

It looks like Seamus gets himself facing his own goal and he can't see where the ball is, but there are two Reading players running on to the ball. From what I can see Fellaini is at the far post, Heitinga looks to be holding someone down from behind on the edge of the area and Jags is somewhere in the mix.

We started off on the edge of the area and ended up dropping to the 18 yard box. Running towards our own goal is always going to make life difficult. I suppose the thinking is that if we dropped any deeper Reading would go with us and any nick could take it past Howard. If we had have done that though we could have gone out and attacked the ball and it would have been in range for the 'keeper to come and claim.

Coleman is having a bit of a baptism of fire. I think he's being conscientious and his team mates are being a bit slack, so he's trying and failing whereas they're not even trying, which is why he's sticking out more.
 
Can't believe what I'm reading here from some people. 'Coleman made a mistake for the pen so he should be dropped' seems to be the gist of it. Losing the will to live on here.

Actually let's drop Jelavic for missing that chance at the start while we're at it.

Pathetic.
