Seamus Coleman isn't up to it.

In the long-term I'm sure that this run will do Coleman good. Once Hibbert is back I'm sure that he'll come into the side though. We've got enough options going forward and Seamus hasn't really added to it. The priority at the moment is to tighten up at the back.

Coleman wasn't playing against Bale though. Who, may I add, Hibbo has had in his pocket on more than one occasion.

Hibbo is a full back of the old style, Coleman and Maicon are much closer to what would have been wing backs, as said above, when you don't attack then it's hard to be caught out when your opposition counter.
Coleman and Neville have also both had great games against Bale, one of Coleman's first games was against Bale (albeit in midfield) and he tore him apart, almost single handedly earning us a draw.

You're missing the point anyway. All attacking full backs/ wing backs have the same issue. Baines has had the same issue with Antonio Valencia, it's a property of all attacking full backs, not just Coleman.

I reckon we should use both, play them for specific games. Hibbert for when we might be on the bag foot, Coleman for when we're going at them. Although saying that I have been seeing Coleman's defensive side get better. Apart from him playing too rough with their lid for the penalty today. It's not British Bulldog Seamus you biff.

Contradictory, as you defend him when he makes clangers. But yer tick tock tick tock.

Good try.

Yeah, get Mucha in. Oh wait, most definitely not an improvement over Howard. Hibbert...a defensive improvement over Coleman.

Get it?

No?

Tick tock tick tock.

Sad part is that today was a game that should have seen Coleman over Hibbert for that very reason.

That game v Spurs even PN praised Coleman for tracking back & defending against Bale - today both our Fullbacks were left far too exposed - Reading seem to be our jinx team!

Mystifying.

It's a game of opinions though, I suppose.

Ha Ha Ha.

Bill, I sense some anger from you tonight.

Nah, just frustration on a number of different fronts. I'll be fine tomorrow.

Those are the games we should be winning.

On a different note, I saw ESPN Soccernet's headline that West Brom "shocks" Chelsea. I wasn't shocked at all. WBA is for real this season.

Genuinely didn't think he had a bad game defensively at all today. Bit of a head scratcher... I can't think of an occasion where I thought "Coleman deffo at fault there" other than the penalty, whereas I can think of about four for Heitinga.

As Dave says though, it's a game of opinions. I thought Neville was shocking in the derby so hey hum.

I think we're all frustrated though mate, and I see your point about Seamus but I do like him and I suppose that only time will tell as he's only played a handful of games there

Coleman was MOTM midweek for Ireland, he was paying for the midweek game today and was a little off the pace.
He has actually been a positive this season.

I said in the match thread earlier this week that we will struggle today (I forecast 2-2) because we have internationals who played midweek and they (reading)do not.
