Current Affairs Scummy Remainers.....

Are you talking about the same Parliament that voted overwhelmingly to uphold the referendum vote and then done everything possible since then to do the exact opposite.

I'm not saying leaving the EU is a good or bad thing by the way. There have always been strong arguments for and against which is why the country is so divided in the matter. Both sides have valid reasons to support their views but equally there are also big negatives.

But don't hold up our countries Parliament as the "be all and end all" here. If ever Parliament has shown itself not fit for purpose then it's behaviour over Brexit is surely it. The whole lot of them, whether Tory, Labour, leavers or remainers have acted irresponsibly and self serving. It is an absolute disgrace.

I’m not holding it up as the be all or end all, I’m holding it up as they system of governance in our country.
And your false equivalence is just that, false. There are not equal amounts of positives and negatives. Most predictions suggest most people, certainly working class and probably middle class will be a lot worse off. The best I’ve heard around Brexit is that it might not be as bad as some people think.

Continual moaning about how life is going to get hard, and still trying to blame the generation that gave them everything they have anyway......

Oooh that’s a spectacular post. The generation that caused the financial crash? The generation that benefited from absurd house prices and unabashed consumption? I wouldn’t go praising that self absorbed generation

No no no! The generation that likes to live in the reflected glory of the Golden generation and pretend that they had something to do with the victory in WW2. The John Terry of generations.

They've consistently been told life will let hard, benefits and privileges available to them are being removed, public services eroded, told 'we're all in this together' when it's quite clearly not the case and now a decision they will have to live with that, by and large, is being equated, with surviving a world war.

I think moaning about it is tame.

Did bloody well on the environment aswell. You managed to make David Attenborough sad!

A system of government which has been found seriously wanting in the way it has handled Brexit, and in that regard doesn't deserve to be "held up" at all.

And your comments on equivalence are absolutely typical of the Brexit debate on both sides. Brexiteers would no doubt agree that there are unequal amounts of positives and negatives, but for the opposite reasons you do. And that is the crux of the problem. Everybody has become completely polarised and bigoted in their views on the subject. Well let me remind you of something, there was a reason that the referendum vote was so close, and it wasn't that half the voters didn't understand what they were voting for.:)

Had the government dealt with this in the right way from the start, then there was every chance that we could have come away from this with a decent deal that wouldn't have been too hard on anybody. However I agree that a hard Brexit will not be good for anybody, here or across Europe, and the fact that we are so close to getting just that is a reflection on the incompetence of our Government and a totally divided population.

Life isn’t getting harder, it gets easier every year....

I didn’t cause a financial crash. I owe money to no one and have money in the bank. It was those who couldn’t repay debt that caused the crash. You can’t have it all ways. Either we are all loaded in which case we didn’t cause the crash or we are not......

You've got your golden pension and I imagine you retired at a decent age to enjoy it and your home is probably worth 10 times as much as when you purchased it.

You're alright Pete. You've had a good life.

You see, the young 'uns with their iphones and their scratchcard addictions are saddled with the debt that your generation has created. They wanted to remain and dictate their own future. They've had that taken away by a xenophobic, baby boomer generation who are hoarding half of the nation's wealth.
What an offensive post this is. To make such a sweeping statement about a whole generation is, apart from being largely untrue, incredibly disrespectful.

I don't know your own circumstances, but I do know that the vast majority of the "baby boomer" generation will now be grand parents and even great grand parents. Many of them will have worked hard all their lives and been totally dedicated to their children and grandchildren. Many sacrifices, financial and personal, will have been made to improve the lives of the current younger generations.

I can only hope that the majority appreciate this and don't have the same selfish attitude as you obviously do.

This thread's called "scummy remainers", mate. I'm just responding in kind

I had a hard but enjoyable life, as did my wife looking after the kids while I worked all around the world. I earned every penny of my pensions before Gordon Brown raided and took most of it.

I have created no debt. I have no debt. I do not owe a single penny to anyone. Even the tax man owes me money. I paid off all of my children’s university fees and loans, and ensured that my children have no debt. I owe an apology to no one.

Those who are in debt because they literally have not enough money to live should be helped and my taxes contribute to pay for that.

Those in debt because they want new TV’s computers, cars, holidays or whatever should look in a mirror and stop blaming everybody else......

Life is tough, especially from 25-45 for those with a family. But don’t seek to put the blame on a previous generation, because you couldn’t be further from the truth......
