His performance for Hearts v Rangers in the 1996 Coca Cola Cup final is fondly remembered to this day.

But it was during this match below that McCann caught the eye of future Rangers boss, [Poor language removed] Advocaat.

I have great memories of the 1996 league cup final. The 1998 scottish cup final not so much!

That was the 9 in a row teams last hurrah. It sure was a great day for Hearts though.

You guys came back from two goals down to draw that 1996 league cup final, but then Gaza worked his magic!

Future Everton and Rangers player David Weir, was of course in that Hearts team as well.

You would have been 4 or 5 at the time, that is some memory you have, could you tell me where the 39 steps are?

Yeah, the ‘96 CCC final was a great game. I was right up the back of the top tier and can still remember the goals from that view point.

Hearts, inspired by Neil McCann came roaring back at Rangers from 2-0 down to draw level but Gazza had his famous half-time Whisky and the rest was history.

Wow, they didn't give him much time, shame he seems a decent guy but I guess things must have been bad.
They're not going to get relegated, thought they might have let him bring in a few of his own players and see how they started next season.
I appreciate they weren't doing too well on the field, any of you hibees able to throw more light on the story?

I'm annoyed at this. Hibs are giving in to the loudmouth lobby.
Maloney was coach to a successful Belgian side so you have to give him time. Maybe he is used to working with better players and Hibs can't ever hope to provide him with sufficient quality in the future.
So the merry-go-round cranks into action again.
