I'm not talking about tika-taka, but if you're going to chuck several hundred million pounds at transfers and planning a plush new stadium, you don't want a hoof-ball relegation specialist in charge for several years.

With the benefit of hindsight, it's easy to slate Koeman, but at the time of his appointment the intention was that he would get us playing direct, fast football, similar to what he'd had S'ton playing (but with more clout in transfer spend).

His dogged determination to sign Marco Silva (again - flawed, with the benefit of hindsight) demonstrated that he wanted a manager who gives a certain brand of football.

Also, if you remember, he only ever wanted to give Big Sam a temporary contract until the end of the year to save us from a relegation scrap - the 18 month "compromise" was out of the desperation more than anything else.

I fully expect Moshiri will be keeping an eye out for someone who will be more intact with how he sees the brand developing.

maybe, if that person isn't avalible though maybe Sam should get another season to ensure stability

Think we've got to live a little. Big Sam's brand of football is honestly very, very dire. I'd sooner we explored our options in the summer, strengthened some key areas and got in a manager who gives the fans something to get behind.

what if we take a punt on someone with a imo average squad, recruit poorly again and the new man flops like koeman, what then?

we need stability, sell off some deadwood/poor players and try to get in the right players

My thoughts are.....SA will be here next season if he has a decent finish to this season...

He will get the opportunity to progress Everton next season, depending on how it turns out next season will determine an extension of his contract.....

This all makes business & strategic sense whether you like him or not.....

Everton do need stability & an experienced manager to sort out the good, bad & the ugly & to sign in some quality players....

No interviewer ever calls him out. Journalism, do they get sacked of they ask uncomfortable questions?
Yeah really good point...he always seems to portrait as some hero fighting against all the odds..to err just be kin average at his very best....

He’ll achieve nothing here, just like his 20 year management career. A big fat zero

The fact people accept this man as our manager is a sad fact of life

Yeah but we havent achieved anything since 1995 so its not like we are going to miss out on anything because of him.

I dont think people are accepting him as much as they are being realistic on where we are right now as a club, besides some of the calls on who should replace him are just stupid. We do need 18 months of stabilty and deadwood shifting to undo some of the mess Koeman and Walsh have made, if we get 7th after the start we had, starting again with a new manager and potentially a new set of problems is too dangerous

At least it sounds like he's now (finally) on board with the Rooney/Gana/Davies midfield and the whole 'Rooney & Sigurdsson can't play in the same side' talk was ultimately just a bit of guff.

He's weird in that he just isn't a very good 'talker' really, which obviously doesn't help him like..
