Sam Allardyce Explains Cenk Tosun Situation

So you think one of the bottom 3 on 24 will pick up nearly as many points as they have in 26 games in there remaining 12 games

They would need to win 5 from those remaining when they've won 6 all season

I think it is very possible.

There are stirrings of life down there among those teams.

Can’t expect a £27 million player to come in and start games ahead of Niasse and some kid from Sheffield United.
Stinks of DoF / Kenwright / Moshiri foisting a player on the Coach with the attitude of...you're the coach, coach him so he is ready, make him fit the team pattern (whatever the 'k it actually is)

MATE ITS HIS HOLD UP PLAY THAT'S LACKING

Meanwhile, our fans are watching Niasse failing to trap a ball even though he's accompanied by an entire fox hunting party, the clumsy tit

There are and there will be because there's a bigger than usual number of teams still in danger. A win here and there and positons drastically change.
We're by no means out of it yet and our tendancy to put in performances like yesterday immediately gets you worried. The fact we already have 31 points is massive in the overall picture though. If we get to 40 points (3 wins or 2 wins/3 draws) it means a team from the bottom 3 has to get 17 points. Thats 5 wins/2 draws or 6 wins out of 12 games. A tall order. It has been done before I suppose but also there are many other teams between us and 18th place. I don't see it happening, but I do think we'll end up in the bottom half (probably about 12th or 13th).

If we finish 8th or 9th that just ridiculous considering some of the beatings we've taken.

I've been watching Everton since around 1970 and as you can imagine I have seen some poor football, but I have never seen anything like what we are watching at present. Cenc Tosun has to start. We can not spend 27 million and not give him Niasse's starting berth.( Niasse is a substitute, much like Straquelersi) The responsibility lies with Allerdyce and we are supposed to trust this Clown with our team.

I find it astonishing really. Spend £27 million on a player whose primary purpose should be to kick a ball between two white posts and then not play him because he doesn’t hold the ball up!
If we played with a bit of pace using players like Walcott and Bolasie (when match fit) then we might be able to attack sides and not worry about holding the bloody ball up. We are already the slowest side in the league at getting up the pitch and loading the team sheet with players like Schneiderlin and Idrissa together (defensive players) isn’t helping us move up the pitch. An ageing Rooney and Calvert Lewin as targets don’t help either as one has no pace and the other always has his back to goal.
Lukaku’s hold up play wasn’t always good....he couldn’t pass a ball five yards and his first touch was generally dreadful.....but he could put the ball in the net.
Perhaps our moron of a manager just needs to realise that Tosun just needs to concentrate on scoring goals. If he can do that, we may have a chance of putting the occasional opponent on the back foot.

Indeed, Stu.

There are four teams on 24 points, which includes the 18th placed team.

Four wins four draws would take any of them to 40 points.

The key thing is, as you say, there are so many of them and they will all be playing each other and are well capable of beating enough of the teams in the bottom half to scramble toward that tally.

Add to that any and all of them are capable of beating EFC, Bornemouth, Foxes and Burnley from the top half.

And as Swansea in particular have shown, these teams are way more capable of taking sommat from the “big teams” than we are so that is another disadvantage we are at.

Now....in all probability this will not happen because we are starting to run out of matches.

But the 18th team finishing on 40 points is not an impossibility in this weird season.

@TonyS .... #noroomforcomplacency :p

Tosun is an Allardyce signing. He wanted him at palace and he wanted him here
