Yes , but LBC today that Mayor would not dare to come on and talk to Nick Ferrari - his rates per day will hurt the common working man - great socialism, and what's the point if the rest of the world major powers don't give a damn?
Unless they buy a Euro 6 Van or Lorry. Which most will have anyway.

Wtf have flights got to do with the argument?

Just trying to parse this - are you saying Khan is too scared to speak to Ferrari (again, by the way, it's weird you keep showing support for right wingers over left yet maintain you're a left winger)?

Don't know what it's like up there to live, suspect i couldn't afford to, but surely the local transport is good if not the best in the UK so i can see were he is coming from if its a help on health issues.
what do delivery drivers do, plumbers ect if they pay do they pass it on in the bill?

No idea Edge, but someone has to pay or go out of business. Wait until it extends to the North and South circulars, only the wealthy can drive in London......the working class are being battered by this....I would have said driven out but they can’t afford it....

I think that is exactly what @Joey66 is saying, and of course he is correct. Heathrow and it’s planes are polluting London, it’s just by a matter of how much......

Very few drive in London but the act of driving (whilst more expensive and not especially quick) is only a small part of the equation, as there really aren't that many places to park in central London, and doing so makes the congestion charge seem like peanuts. If people do have cars, it's either those using it for work or those living (and driving) in zone 2 and beyond. I've lived here over a decade now and haven't had a car the entire time. It's just not necessary and a generally inferior means of transport to cycling.

You can only present so much evidence, but as shown, the pollution from Heathrow is contained in that part of west London, whereas pretty much all of central London has Heathrow-type levels (probably 10x the area of the Heathrow patch), and a good chunk of the Heathrow emissions will be the road traffic around the airport. As it is, you've spent most of this thread denying that air pollution is a problem at all, so you'll have to forgive me for taking you with a pinch of salt Pete.

It's also perhaps noting that the European Commission took legal action against the government for breaching air quality standards, so I presume Joe and Pete are all in favour.

So you're both arguing that flights should have similar measures taken against them?

If Londoners don’t need cars, fine, just ban them all. Tradesmen and delivery drivers, however, can’t really jump on the bus or tube with assorted tools or washing machines.

If you’ve never had a car for ten years you are very lucky indeed, although if you never get outside of London and see how the rest of us live, it would explain a lot.......

There are around 5 million tube journeys taken every day Pete. Put even a fraction of those into cars and things will get hugely messy from a congestion standpoint, let alone a pollution standpoint. I fully understand that commercial traffic, together with buses and taxis, make up the majority of London traffic, but seeing as you have argued persuasively that pollution around Heathrow is excessive, surely the similar levels in the entire of central London will cause you to suggest changes need to be made. I'm sure Mr Khan is open to your input if you were to offer your services.

Re your latter point, granted, I tend to travel out of the UK more than I do out of London, but the train has always been perfectly adequate if I did need to travel within the UK.

Or they can use Euro 6 vehicles, which have been the norm for a number of years.
