There are more Police Officers now then back in the 60’s 70’s, but now they are all in the warm office on the internet searching out ‘hate’ crimes.....

What’s been the UK population growth since the 1960’s ? I’m going to estimate about a quarter , I’m also going to guess that for example historical sex crime investigations , images of child abuse and online grooming all didn’t need require investigation then . There are a finite number of police officers and the demands on them are increasing , yesterday we saw the Home Secretary talking about the risks children face onine . That wasn’t a problem in 1960 , I could I’m sure list a host of other factors or crimes that simply weren’t issues in the 1960’s.

There's also a much larger population and those police officers in their warm office are not just scouring Twitter looking for body-shaming comments. It's a fertile ground for fraud, theft, terrorism and horrific exploitation. Things have moved on from Heartbeat or Dixon Of Dock Green.

So you didn’t like a President inserting himself into British politics . Off the top of my head Trump commented on the London attacks and or the mayor in a inappropriate way , he’s commented on the London crime rate, said that May was doing a poor job of negotiating Brexit , that Farage should be GB ambassador to the US , said that Johnson would make a good PM and retweeted Britain first . I’m going to take a wild stab at it and assume you’re ok with all of those though ?

All righties are raging hypocrites. It’s part of their makeup. The quickest to anger but also love using the snowflake tag no matter how reasonable the objection from anyone vaguely leftist.

Trump Blimp - Wah wah wah it’s so childish and mean to our neatest friend and ally. Would they let a blimp of Khan? No! The bad lefties! Wah wah wah!

Buffoon says that a black man is too dumb to recognise any nuance to what he’s saying and just reflexively hates Britain because he is um bongo bongo pikaninny....oh calm down snowflakes, learn to take a joke.

Boris said that his attitude to Britain might be based on his ‘part kenyan’ heritage and ‘ancestral dislike of the British Empire’.....Obama hit back saying that he didn’t get rid of a bust of Churchill and that he thought he was a great wartime leader, but tellingly he never denied or even tried to answer the claim that he had a grudge against Britain......

The case for the defence rests Ma’Lud.......
There’s a colossal hypocrisy in your stance on this issue and the Khan blimp compared to the Trump balloon, there’s simply no getting away from that fact, as you’ve literally spelt it out.

I do understand that, and it was perhaps a flippant remark, but there is something amiss with the management of the Police.......

Not really, unless you mean the failure to tell successive Home Secretaries to get lost.

I mean who on earth sees in a year two mass casualty attacks in London, one attempted one, a surge in violent crime, a horrific fire that kills dozens (which needs investigating and where a ruined tower block has to be searched by hand) and then says “Sorry chaps, but you’ll have to rein in the spending a bit more” whilst pretending it’s all the fault of someone who doesn’t provide the funding.

Of course the thing that is most mental about this is that the LFB and (especially) the LAS are in arguably an even worse state.

And if we gave the police unlimited funding, what would they do differently to reduce murder, knife, crime etc.......

I’ll tell you something about most crime , it’s detectable , that’s not all crime but most . It’s a question of resources and desire . That’s why a kid throwing a stone through your window doesn’t usually get caught but a murderer does . If you increase resources , staffing levels , availability of forensic services, have huge teams available to provifr 24hr surveillance on suspects , phone analysis to not just establish contact and location but also you can gain knowledge of previous communication. If you look at prevention you’d have huge increases in the deterrent of uniformed officers in the street , a fast response to crimes occurring and as above the active targeting of those involved in criminality without budget or staffing constraints.

I’m not saying that that’s the answer I mean clearly it’s not but in your world of unlimited resources then you’d see a huge increase in detections , it seems insane that somebody couldn’t see a correlation.

Impossible to ask the police to do the same job as years ago with far less staff and money.

The police need to focus on dealing with crime and not picking up the slack from every other agency because they can’t say no.

I doubt this will change though as when something goes wrong and we need someone to blame it’s always easy to use the police as the scapegoat.

That’s a very fair comment. I think we discussed this earlier in this thread, the education system nor social services are doing their bit......cue teachers and social services to jump up and down.......

I've said this before, but if anyone doubts how bad the air quality is in London then they should go walk from Lambeth Bridge to Putney on the day when they close all the roads for the bike race.

It is amazing how you notice not being able to taste the air all of a sudden, or how you get sunburnt because there isn't a protective layer of smog any more.

You can see the smog blanket hanging over London as you approach from the south west on the train. Grim.
