For me the police should stop and search anyone they want, Black, white, orange or whoever. Old and young. Quick question have you ever been stopped and searched ? Not stopped in your car for motoring matters actually stopped and a police officer go through you pockets and pat you down in the street . Because I have and I wasnt responsible for any crime and I didn’t like I all and I’m not a young black male so I don’t thunk it’s somethimg that should be so easily dismissed.

I do agree it’s a complex issue because I do think the decrease in stop search has impacted on the crime figures , it’s a balance and not an easy one .

No I haven’t, but I’ve been through airport security where I have been, but I regarded it as a necessary act. If we put up with it at airports then I see no issue on the streets....

Come on you don’t see a difference between allowing yourself to be searched as a security condition of air travel and being identified , picked out, stopped and searched in full view of the public in the street by the police who suspect you of being responsible for a crime . To me It’s apples and oranges .

Again I repeat I think that the decline in stop search is a factor in rising crime but for me dismissing the perfect legitimate concerns of sections of the community isn’t helpful.

Actually no, I don’t see a difference. On the one hand someone in the street is suspected of a crime or potential crime and is searched, and on the other a person at an airport is searched for a potential crime. In full view of the public. And at airports you don’t allow yourself to be searched, you are told, and sometimes told by people carrying guns. I have legitimate concerns that someone like myself would be searched for the potential crime of airplane security, but I don’t go getting similar aged people wound up because of it...and even if I did, I doubt that the airports would cease the practice....

You allow yourself to be searched by entering the secure area of the airport if you don’t want to you can’t go airside never mind fly . Under DfT rules Everybody is searched , that’s including police officers, as long as they aren’t armed , who go airside . So you feel that’s the same as the identification and selection of a specific individual walking down a street.

We clearly disagree on this so I imagine that’s that .

Crime, including knife/gun crime doesn't increase in a vacuum, and its not all just about funding either. Society as a whole is becoming more polarised, less tolerant which fuels antisocial behaviour including crime. You know my answer is always from the basis of creating a freer, less regulated society which fosters a spirit of personal responsibility.

I think it’s the intolerance, mostly generated by politicians and ‘leaders’ that is causing the damage........

Yes, they'd go back to the halcyon days of having a membership 330,000 less than now and in tens of millions of debt again. Still at least they'd be on a level with their sister parties in Europe, polling in single digits, finishing fourth or fifth in two horse races and watching helplessly as the far right strut about the place.
