I really think we missed not having Charlie Davies as he definitely looked to have a nice finishing touch in the World Cup qualifying matches. I hope he comes back full strength and continues his development at Sochaux who are known for developing young strikers before selling them to bigger clubs.

You gotta remember Mike the confederations cup - is nowhere near the world cup.

Many teams can fluff it due to nerves and many teams don't even get there!

Yeah thats what I was saying on the Landon Donovan thread...

Its a constant theme of development...

Its coming along nicely. You definitely are maturing as a team on the world stage.

Yeh your right. But I had high hopes for this squad.

We all knew when that starting lineup was announced we would be in trouble and without recourse we were.

The draw was really set up for a long run. Opportunity lost.

First time posting but here's my view:
The US has a good midfield, just poor quality finisher and we lack a true LB. No US striker score in this WC. I hope Jozy goes to a club that can develop his finishing.

That Clarke wasn't even that bad to be honest, he was getting on the ball and keeping things ticking over, more so than Bradley during that spell in the game. If the mistake is the reason he's been axed then it's very harsh and underserved.

USA don't have enough creative talent in midfield, you know your in trouble when your relying on the likes of Donovan and Dempsey for creativity, they aren't players I'd call 'natural' in this area. Torres should have been risked, or someone else with a bit of craft and vision.

I can understand the critcism's of Altidore and co, but there's only so much a striker can do, they've got to have support from there midfield players.

Me too.

Well back to my guests. I'm down and out right now hoping for better tomorrow with the English lads.

Unlucky lads, had you just been a bit sharper in attack then the game would have been yours.
The usa can be proud of it's soccer team, as regards progress on an iternational scale the usa has come a long way in a short space of time.
The lads done you proud.

No disgrace as Ghana area pretty good team imo. Have to say the best team won on the night. They had the first half you had the second but were dead on your feet when extra time came round. I thought Bradley might have given Torres a go but Fielhaber did give you a bit of control in midfield in the second half so can't criticize the boss on the changes he made

Watched the game today.. Was disappointed with result. Our boys were tired.. Proud of them overall, and Proud of Bob Bradley..

No goals from the forwards all tournament. Hard to believe those are the best forwards the US can field. Disgraceful.

To think that those Italian facktards left Guiseppi Rossi at home. US could have used him today.
Altidore was a disgrace and Adidas needs to pull him from that commercial or people will think those boots are made with depleted uranium.

Landon, like a lot of people, had a disappointing game, penalty goal or not. He lost the ball way too much. We needed more from him. He had a good tournament though overall. Really, Dempsey was the only one who had a good game, along with maybe Benny Feilhaber and Jonathan Bornstein. Howard had a forgettable night too.

Very disappointing, Ghana I don't think played above their level by any means, they only had a couple real chances really. The game was definitely within our reach. Both goals were big big mistakes on our part. The fact is we have some good midfield players and a good goalie but you can only go so far with crappy strikers. With Charlie Davies hurt, Jozy was our only real hope and while he played well at times he seems to find ways to not score and was downright awful today.

That's what surprised me tonight. I thought he was very quiet in a game of such importance. Then again, I thought Dempsey and Donovan went missing a bit too.

Not wrong there.

We definitely missed having Charlie Davies this tournament. Not saying we'd have been world beaters with him but I think we'd have taken a few more chances and buried them.

Agreed and welcome to GOT.

I think Clark was taken out since he had a yellow and Bradley didn't want to risk him getting a red.

Rossi made his bed by choosing Italy and paid the price by watching at home instead of representing Italy. The insult to injury was that the forwards that Lippi chose weren't that great either and they still went instead of him. The fact is that Rossi should have chosen the USA. Same goes for Subotic of Serbia too. No guarantee Serbia even qualifies out of Europe in the next few World Cups where as the USA should qualify going forward. Two really bad choices.
