Running

Nice run , well done.
I’m into the last 7 days before my marathon now, a very easy 7 miles today after having Piriformis and back issues since Thursday . Plus the usual maranoia kicking in with knee aches , ball of foot etc , wonderful 🙂

" Maranoia "

I get this the week before every race, no matter how long or short.

I always get imaginary tweaks in my calves, which I mentally turn into full blown strains and panic stations

Boss mate. Enjoy it. Will be my first marathon so just hope all the hard yards will pay off. Into the taper now thankfully!

How did you get on?

How did you get on?
Well I finished in 4 hours 7 mins, which was 8 mins faster than last year and first M70 . It was probably the toughest marathon I’ve done as I puked up my gel at mile 6 and thereafter was retching up every few miles, not projectile just bits of bile as I had to switch to just water . I was on track for 4 hours until about 16 miles but then slowed and went into “ just finish” mode as I was afraid I’d bonk as I hadn’t taken any energy on board , only water. My family were at the track to watch me finish , which was lovely and I ran the last 50 yards with my granddaughter.
Somewhere in the middle I decided this would be my last “ hard push “ for a marathon time, I’ll just go for enjoying (!) it in future 🙂

😂 you’re not selling the concept of doing a marathon very well, apart from the last 50 yards anyway.

Well done for getting it completed anyway, a bit of inspiration for the rest of us.
