Royston Drenthe

If he wasn't a bit mental, he never would have come here in the first place. Now that same craziness/indiscipline/whatever you want to call it has resulted in him being sacked/leaving the club, I can't really see how anyone can complain too much. Even if he had been a major success here and a model pro, some other club with more money would have just come in and taken him from under our noses. Sad but true...time to move on.

He was a great player with brilliant footwork, it's a shame he didn't have self-discipline. Would have been a great player had he have behaved. Ciao Royston.

Drenthe was easily the best thing about our attack pre January (actually, the ONLY good thing). But I can't argue with Moyes on this one. He was given time off to straighten himself out, then he came in 2 hours late and was given a final warning. The very next day he shows up 2 hours late again. Moyes had no choice at that point.

I don't know why Drenthe continually messes up. Something in his brain just doesn't work right. I would have loved to have him on our right wing for years to come but that time has passed now. No use worrying too much about it.

It's bad that our 3 best wingers this year (Drenthe, Pienaar, Donovan) all might be gone by next season. We're going to have problems if Gueye, Osman, and Coleman are out there come August.

Pienaar and Osman scored one each against Sunderland.

I was trying to say "screamer" basically. They were both goals in or just outside the area curled into the corner. Drenthe's were spontaneous rocket shots.

Random aside: Why do we use yards in football? I don't even know exactly how big a yard is.

I don't know what happened with Royston (nobody does) but his ability going forward was what we've been missing since Kanchelskis, I agree with the sentiments of the op.

There are plenty of guys out there just as talented, who will show up on time.

If he wasn't a liability, we'd have never got him. We tried to sort him out, but it wasn't to be. He was involved in some fantastic play, but I think given how little respect he had it was the best move to get rid.

Here's hoping Moyes has been scouting out our right wing position. Ryan Mendes, Nick Powell, Arjen Robben?

People acting like he turned up late once and was raped for it. Lol.

He was driving 120mph through the suburbs just to get to training on time after his washing machine broke down mid cycle and he had to change the fuse. When he arrived at Finch Farm late he was choked by Phil Neville with a chloroform soaked handkerchief. He woke up 30 miles outside Merseyside wearing a full Liverpool kit with a sore bum.
