Ross Barkley

I'm also not sure Koeman is convinced on Barkley.

If we had a Rooney/Sigurdsson - Barkley could have been sat on our bench since December;

I'm not saying they're better, but we had very little option when he was playing so turd.

He doesn't like him and has prodded him toward the exit since being here.

He's not the manager to get the best out of Barkley and Koeman knows he's here three seasons and wants someone he doesn't need to work on. Politics will win out though because it'll look terrible if Stones, Lukaku and Barkley all leave a year after Moshiri tipped up.

But he is getting the best out of him. Ross was getting worse until Koeman became tough with him and now we have the old Ross back. Good management skills. If Ross would have buckled under the tough love then he wouldn't have been any use to anyone here or anywhere else. The tough love created a positive response. I applaud Koeman for getting the best from Ross and Lukaku this season. Good management.

Barkley can't really go on a free next year tho can he? Do we not get a fee for him regardless as we developed him and it would go to a tribunal? Or am I completely wrong here?

Tribunal rules are for players under the age of 24 and Ross Barkley turns 24 in December 2017. He will be sold this summer if he does not sign! I think we will get £30-40m for him and there may even be a bidding war. I think he may have decided his England prospects will be improved if he plays for a top 4 side asap. A good contract offer should sway him to stay, though hopefully.

Sure he has worked on him tho Dave, defo playing better than he has done in previous seasons and looks about 12 stone lighter.

We dont. We have a player now shackled into a less expressive way of playing the game.

It's like putting a butterfly in a jar and leaving it there to die.

Might be in the minority here but I'm genuinely not bothered if Ross leaves this summer. One of the most frustrating players I've seen recently, bags and bags of ability but lacks the brain/will to push on. I know I'll get slated but just my PoV.

Looks unhappy and manic at times. I just dont see this lad enjoying his games and I dont see him progressing.

He scored 8 last season when he was supposed to be a poorer player...and that was in a season he clocked off like all the rest of the bottlers for the last 10 games.

I am sure before Xmas, Ronald was not impressed with Ross' form (who was?) which is why he did not hurry the Board up over a new contract for the lad.

However, clearly since then the situation has changed for the better in terms of form: RK has got the best out of Ross due to coaching and re-positioning him. I believe Koeman now wants to keep him and am sure he will get his way!
