I'm confident he'll stay and a contract will be signed before the close of the season and I'll happily be vaulted if I am incorrect.

Simply, I expected his representatives are playing hard ball over a lucrative deal while rightly or wrongly we'll be looking for the best deal for us.

If he signs the new contract everybody will love him and prove loyalty is still existed.

Exactly. However Koeman has already shown he's willing to show tough love with him and I'd expect this will be backed up by the top brass.

Offering him an overly lucrative contract simply because he's a Blue wont happen. He'll either have to earn it or accept a more reasonable offer.

The ongoing issues regarding Rom's contract may also be a significant factor, as it may help gauge how much he can realistically expect to get.

The issue is that Koeman has already displayed a lack of tact with his direct tone and English; from this people get far too easily carried away.

Not down to wages perhaps? He thinks Everton are too small for him?

New poster, long time lurker. I have essentially only signed up for one reason. No issue with diversity of opinion at all, and I'm sure he helps to keep the traffic up, but davek is making this forum largely unbearable.

Speak for yourself,

There are many on here enjoy @davek contributions and feel the place would be the poorer without him.

Oh....and welcome to our little community ;)

Are you referring to Rom or Ross? If Rom, then I truly doubt wages are an issue but rather expected progress of the club and any release clause.

If you're referring to Ross, then I meant that if Rom signs the reported £140kp/w then surely Ross's representatives will want a piece of the pie.

Therefore, perhaps they're waiting to see the outcome of any such deal with Lukaku before they commit to any long term deal.

Both sides need to sort this but Barkley needs to pipe down, take a step back and think seriously about whether he feels it's sensible to start playing games with HIS team. If 70k a week isn't enough to make him commit to us them i despair and shame on him. You can't claim to be an Evertonian and reject that sort of deal.

Not sure he's mouthed off about it?
Rom's getting offered double, supposedly, so Ross (and agent) should just say ok, without any bargaining?

I mean Lukaku. Maybe he was expecting the like in Strootman and Koulibaly incoming. You got to show ambition by signing big name proven players and last summer Everton failed to do so.

To echo the words of the umpire.....I most certainly am :p
Much as I like Deulofeu and am sorry it hasn't worked out for him in our league , he is not strong enough to play Barkley's position . He's so lightweight you could tie a string round his ankles and give him away to kids at fairs. :)

After his comments regarding about failed additions who we could have signed, then I expect measuring the club's ambitions is a huge part of it.

He wants to play CL football and there's nothing wrong with that, yet it's for us to convince him that it's possible here after two dire years.

If he (Rom) does eventually stay here and sign a contract then I'm sure they'll be some explicit promises regarding our overall direction.

That may in fact involve promises of signings! Perhaps not individual names but more about calibre. The same may be said with Ross to be fair.

Maybe I read it wrong or way too optimistic, but RKs statement is the clearest indication that Ross will renew. He hasn't been offered a contract yet (according to RK) and the 'he's a kid of the club etc' is a huge positive.

He wants CL we want CL, can't think of anyone else I'd like to achieve it with. He's a blue, we're blues its in the stars.

I've had a few.
