Ross Barkley

.....whilst I wouldn't defend his tackle on Lovren, the outcry and demands for an apology by the Reds defender are yet another example of one rule for them and one for another. How can they be so righteous when they kept quiet over a series of dreadful tackles from Gerrard, Kuyt et al.

We accept it was a bad one but you would never get the same acceptance when Gerrard went two footed on Naismith. They are the best supporters in the world though.

Ashamed of nothing. Offended by everything.

Bad tackle from Ross.

Less of that, more of being boss, please.

Barkley is yet to have a decent game in a derby for us.

Think he goes overboard personally in his aggression. He can't keep a lid on it.

He had one of his best matches ever for us in the 3-3 in 2013/2014.

I've watched the match several times, he was absolutely boss that day. Fearless

Exact same tackle was made in yesterdays Arsenal v City game and not mention of it in the slightest after the game, double standards

Getting cheesed off with all this 'Barkley needs to get to the levels of Coutinho' etc. What I find dead funny is how all these bellend pundits having a pop at him and sucking Coutinho's nob at the same time forget that the last few months leading up to the derby game Barkley has been boss, whereas Coutinho in that same period has been crap, blinkered the lot of them.

I've never seen a young English player take the same levels of stick from the media as Ross does. Even people like Sterling etc. who should really be one of Englands best players gets second chances all the time despite poor form. Ross plays well and it's barely mentioned yet a bad game and they're on him like a pack of wolves almost giddy that he's failed. I hope the lot of them enjoy England getting bummed once again at the World Cup whilst Henderson Dier and Lallana chase around getting outclassed for the umpteenth time again.

For some reason I totally forgot that game haha :D

Apart from that one, then, he's been poor.

I mean, relatively speaking, he's just failed to grab the games by the scruff of the neck, which he has the ability to do.

The system we played on Saturday didn't really help him in that regard though.

Happens all the time, likes of Gerrard threw them in most big games. When Barkley does it though it's a national disgrace. When Alli does it no one was bothered.

Media always like to have a few players they can slam into, they got robbed of that chance in the euro's r
as Barkley didn't play a minute, but can guarantee that some journos would have had precwritten pieces ready to go to print laying into him before the tournament even started.

Alli got slaughtered by the media and fans for his sending off in Europe, far more so than Barkley has been for this challenge.

Rightly so in fairness, it was a disgusting tackle.

Barkley's tackle was rash, but weirdly enough there were two in the Arsenal v City game that were just as bad (one from Walcott, and I think the other may have been from Fernandinho).

It's this media love in that stops them winning anything. 'Coutinho is world class', no he's not he turns up for United and Everton then maybe 1 in 3 or 4 aside from that. He's another jumped up big game game raiser who if he's not on tv away at Hull or Bournemouth can't be bothered playing. He's signed a contract there because his agent knows full well that no one is coming in for him and any other top club would have punted him already.

Heard one of the pundits saying the other day that there is only 18 months difference in age between Barkley and Coutinho, you can imagine what the rest of what they said was...

Ali still got all this crap from pundits, media "he's young, he'll learn" "He's not that type of player" etc over that tackle.

Barkley has been brilliant since December and has played a major part in our form this year, but most of the pundits, media casually forget that.

When I was listening to what Harry RedKnapp said about Barkley you could see (like us) how pissed off he was with the grief Barkley was getting.
