Ross Barkley

Ali still got all this crap from pundits, media "he's young, he'll learn" "He's not that type of player" etc over that tackle.

Barkley has been brilliant since December and has played a major part in our form this year, but most of the pundits, media casually forget that.

When I was listening to what Harry RedKnapp said about Barkley you could see (like us) how pissed off he was with the grief Barkley was getting.

didn't see what 'Arry said mate.

Went out on Saturday and tbh still haven't recovered haha. The weekend's been a bit of a blur :D

.....whilst I wouldn't defend his tackle on Lovren, the outcry and demands for an apology by the Reds defender are yet another example of one rule for them and one for another. How can they be so righteous when they kept quiet over a series of dreadful tackles from Gerrard, Kuyt et al.

We accept it was a bad one but you would never get the same acceptance when Gerrard went two footed on Naismith. They are the best supporters in the world though.

Remember when McMahon tried to break John Ebbrell but crocked himself instead?

Don't know if it's already been posted (can't be arsed looking like) but Harry know his footy.

Know what you're saying about being a blur, no matter what I do I can't get rid of the taste of Jack Daniels (the drink, not a man!!!)

In a one minute video Redknapp has shown more of a grasp for the game than the last two managers have shown in 5 years. It's also why he will never get selected as England manager.

He speaks common sense for the most part and is one of the good guys.

To have any chance of winning this game in Saturday we needed Ross and Rom to both turn up on the day. Sadly neither did.

Having said that I can't fault Ross for effort. If anything he tried too hard when he should have just concentrated on playing football, which is what you tend to get when local lads play in derbies. I think the criticism he has had for the Lovren tackle has been OTT but unsurprising. It seems the nationals, and in the main most punters, like to stick it to our Ross every chance they get. I personally don't think it was a red card challenge, but he could easily have had a yellow prior to this challenge so, in this respect, could consider himself lucky to still be on the pitch. But hey, how many times has that been the case against us in games.

Very little Ross tried came off, but he didn't go hiding like we've seen in the past. He was still demanding the ball and that is probably the one positive of his I can take out of the game.

I also don't get all these comparisons with Coutinho. This was Ross's first bad game in 12 since the turn of the year. Conversely it was Coutinho's first good game over the same period. But suddenly he is somebody that Ross needs to look up to and learn from. I'm sorry I'm not having that. Both are very good players and it should be left at that.

The difference being that Ross had no other creative players to support him in his role opposed to Firmino e.t.c. In foresight playing Ross as the sole creative player with an inexperienced striker partnering a NEA Rom was a bad idea, we looked better as did Ross when he got some creative support.
