Ross Barkley

My understanding from Koemans comments if I'm correct is that if he isn't signed up by the summer he's out the door?

Yes basically. It wasn't a threat but he stated that's the business of football. Ross has to do whats best for him and the Club has to do the same. The ball will be in Ross Barkley court as Koeman has said the club wants him to stay.

Ross will sign. Rom will also sign (although he'll be off next summer) and we'll be getting our sexy new stadium.

I honestly believe the above will all happen.
Agents and players playing hardball to get what they want isn't anything new.

Just my opinion, but think what koeman said was directly aimed at Ross to tell him the reality, rather than maybe what his agents been saying to him about delaying to get a better contract etc, with the agent obviously wanting a move for commission.

Hopefully it has the desired result of Ross telling his agent to get it done now. Don't believe for a second the lad wants to leave, but if his agent can twist the situation then he could manipulate such a move, spot on for koeman laying it out in plain speak for the lad.

So weird this link. Couple of months ago half so called fans just slated him every week and wanted him out the club now he's back to his best it's a disaster.... should have never ever gotten to this point though. Reckon he's even been offered a new deal yet or they're to busy fannying around over rom?

I feel like this gets exaggerated. A tiny minority wanted him sold. A few fans got on his back sometimes out of frustration. The vast majority have supported him completely from minute one.

It's annoying that the media will only pick up on a few groans for a misplaced pass, and completely ignore all the banners or how often the Gwladys Street sings his name.

That's debatable, shoehorning good players into the team is not a god idea.
He plays all across the front 2/3 behind the striker, fluid interchange which seems to be the go in a Koeman team.
Barkley, Kev, Calvert Lewin and Lookman e.t.c all move pretty fluidly in between those positions.
As to whether he's better than Kev, here's the stats in a team that finished below us last season and will do so again this season.
This season Kev averages an assist and a goal (4 of each) in every 370 minutes of PL football.
Siggy averages a goal (8) every 317 minutes, and an assist (11) every 228 minutes. Notably more productive.
Comparing last season Sigurdsson averaged a goal every 265 minutes (11) and an assist every 1458 minutes (2)
Mirallas averaged a goal every 250 minutes (4) and an assist every 500 minutes (2).
All that is telling me, as well as what I've seen of both players with my own eyes is that Siggurdsson is the better player, and younger at that too.

They definitely want him. Have we done enough to keep him.

I'd much rather we kept Ross than Rom.

As I'm sure most teams do mate.

There's an offer on the table apparently, so we'll see.

It should've been sorted but I'm still seeing little to be worried about.

Seriously though lads the last time we sold our best player was Fellaini and that was because he was desperate to leave, Martinez didn't rate him and we got nearly 30 mil out of them! I would argue that we come out of pretty much every transfer window stronger than before, that's certainly true of Koeman's first two.

Its true this but people are still we have Everton of 15 years ago budgets, even before Moshiri came we had turned it around so we didnt have to lose players, unless it was a crazy deal like the Fellaini one. If we do sell Ross you can be sure it will be for a hugh OTT sum, we call the shots on these things in a strong way, we have done for years.
Saying that I still dont think we will sell him unless we decide we want to.

Not particularly.

He said explicitly that it wasn't an ultimatum, but, if Ross doesn't sign a deal then if a big offer comes in then things may change.

He then said that he's spoken to Ross about the new deal and that it's up to the board and player to come to an agreement.

There's a deal in the offing. Definitely.

If Alli goes to Real they'll have plenty money. The thing is I don't see Ross as a similar type.

Alli is more Lampard - i.e. not really a playmaker in the natural sense, but ideal as a no.10 as he has great positional awareness and a real poachers instinct.

Ross is better on the ball I'd say in terms of his ability with passing, take-ons etc, but is more effective dictating the play.

Two very different types of players.
