Most young player suffer with brittle confidence
In Barkleys case his confidence is based around everything he does on the pitch. He does something well his backers applaud him, he does something wrong the haters are on his back, and when this happens a couple of times you can see his confidence visibly shrink.
His haters need to realise he is a good player but he isn't a Pirlo or Innesta, if he was he wouldn't be with us.

Give the lad the same breaks as some of our under performing players get

Totally wrong. Nobody 'hates' him. And it's not his detractors that need to realise he's not Pirlo or Iniesta, it's those like Pabbers who blindly love him. They are the ones - along with Martinez who have put crazy unrealistic expectations on the lad.

This all day. And pretending he's playing boss when he's clearly not isn't fooling anyone but yourself.

Unfortunately for Ross his last three seasons were his most important, development-wise, but he was taking instruction from a joke shop manager. It'll take awhile to get him back firing again and a spell out the spotlight and the team is the way to go imo.

All I ask is treat him as a good player and not a Pirlo or Inniesta...
@Pabbers may have high expectations of him and that is his opinion, but there are people who pull Barlkey to pieces as if he has reached these massive standings of the likes of Pirlo.
He is still our best and most productive midfielder in our squad, and has been for the last couple of seasons

I guess though for some people they want to slaughter a good player because he isn't a world beater

Tell me do you think he is a good player

Take a bloody miracle to get him back firing !!

First half of last season Barkley was fantastic mate, towards the end of the season he just seemed to hit a brick wall, confidence looked shot, fans on his case, and his fitness was questionable (down to Martinez) but for the most part under Martinez Barkley actually was excellent.
