Ross Barkley

Tonight confirms it unfortunately. Another Jose Baxter/Jack Rodwell.

If he needs a behind-closed doors arse-kicking AND a public dressing down just to perform decently, you know there's something wrong.

He has low game iq

We are getting to the point where we have to choose. Is it Everton or Barkley because those numbers just aren't good enough.

We are actually in a precarious position with him. He has less than 2 years on his deal and is already on 65K a week. At some point very soon both the player and the club will be forced to make a decision whether to sign a new contract or be sold. At the moment I would hate to think of his valuation because his drop in form has not gone unnoticed.

Not Arsedley.

He has been in the league for four years now, been given a free pass almost for all four. If he was good then he was worth £50m. If he is playing poor he is just a kid, im sorry but him and Dele Alli have both been found out.

Before you all have a pop at me, ask yourself why he has stopped the powerful runs he used to make, or why he cant play instinctively anymore ?
it seems to me the hype has gone to his head, he now stops the ball and tries some sort of arrogant feint of the shoulder type movement, maybe tries to throw in the odd nutmeg or step over, sorry but he has gone downhill since the kids first season under RM.

Far too many people on here are protective of Barkley. He has been bang average for a while and has been really poor the last few games. Last night he stank the gaff out, he was awful.
Why does it bother so may people that he may not be the superstar we thought he would be??......people seem really annoyed that we are prepared to question this, I don't get it. To me, he is technically gifted but will never be a top top player.
I don't get the over protectiveness that is awarded to Ross, if he isn't that good.........so be it, we move on?

Stop talking sense Sir, you'll be abused for that on here.

Even that's not true though as players who were limited on the ball like Hibbert and McCarthy get slaughtered for not having Barkley like qualities going forward.

What a lot of our fans don't realise is that each player has their own strengths and they can't be good in every area.
It seems our 'fans' always have to have someone to slate. People who are generally unhappy like to spread their negativity wherever they can to make themselves feel better about their own miserable lives. It's sad.

Osman,
Hibbert,
Barkley,
Etc...

Is it a coincidence that it's local lads who get the most flack? I think not.

Jealousy is a terrible thing lads. Maybe turn the TV off, get up off your fat arses and try and achieve something for yourselves instead of expecting things to come to you. The world does not owe you a living.

You sound upset mate

Osman... trash.
Hibbert... trash.
Barkley... been trash for 3 years.

But why are people only using Osman and Hibbert as examples of fans' discontent? We've had LOADS of similarly-useless foreigners who took a LOT of flak from the fans. Seems a little too convenient to just use the local lads argument.

Some absolute arse-gravy getting chatted in this thread.

Nothing quite sums up our fans over the last few seasons like applauding an extremely limited ex-player for falling over and accidentally scoring a goal to knock us out the cup, while ruthlessly slating Ross Barkley.

I wouldn't call it jealousy. I'd call it passion. The local lads are the one's who drive us on and we expect the most from them. The 3 players you mentioned should not be given a free ride because they're local lads, they were given grief because they were not up to the standards we demand. And to be fair, on the wedge they're on, they should be able to take the criticism and crack on. Barkley had to be told that he wasn't being boo'd in the FA cup semi, wtf, is he 5 years old? I'm surprised Jags didn't give him a little hug to console him! If he doesn't like the grief he gets, he should use his money to pay for an NVQ in catering or something!!!! Tens of thousands of pounds a week surely pays for a thick skin and an ounce of manliness !?!

That to me says he needs a move to a champions league club under top managers rather than stay here.

Thats 'sthe difference with Scholes etc to Ross.

Well in many ways maybe he should? That wouldn't be best for us but may be best for his development. Presently I don't think he's consistent enough yet.

Totally disagree. Just because someone is local does not mean they should be expected to do more.

It isn't Osman's or Hibbert's fault that they 'weren't good enough', they don't give themselves contracts, do they?

The money they're on is completely irrelevant as the whole footballing world is ridiculous when it comes to money.

So by your logic if you've got loads of money you're immune to mental health issues? I suppose you think Gary Speed was selfish for doing what he did? What a completely ridiculous and outdated opinion. It's 2016 mate. Wake up.

Barkley can be a very good player, and obviously has the skills within him to be a very good player, but he also has the sloppiness and Inconsitency, over his whole time in the first team, he has had more bad games than good I would say. He had spells under Martinez where he was poor and probably needed taking out the team just to maybe help his learning curve, unfortunately it never happened.

The two telling points for me last night was when Miralles took the ball off him for a free kick and when Bolasie took the ball off him on the wing, no words where spoken, they just done it and you could see Barkley's head drop after both.
This season will definitely tell us whether he has got it to become the player we all think he should be, No one has questioned him before, or even took the time to sit down and explain to him some things he needs to know, also should become a lot tougher mentally through these times. He's had worse games under Martinez but Koeman will hopefully help him actually analyse hom and teach him more than Martinez ever would.
