In sure we all agree that we've made a good start to the season, last night being an exception. With that in mind and given the relatively poor level of opposition you'd expect your "number 10" to have had plenty of freedom and space to create.

Well here's the stats on Barkley

No through balls, no crosses and one assist in 5 league games for a team that's won 4 and drew 1 is just not good enough.

We are getting to the point where we have to choose. Is it Everton or Barkley because those numbers just aren't good enough.

If it was aimed at you, i'd have quoted your post. Relax. I'm speaking generally after reading many daft comments on here.

But if you're genuinely saying that Barkley has hit his ceiling and can't improve any more, then yeah you're getting filed in the daft section and all.

If people are convinced he will improve, then I'd suggest not setting the bar too high to avoid disappointment when the negatives in his game that I mentioned earlier are still present then.

Of course, next time he beats 3-4 players and scores I thoroughly expect to be vaulted, such is the tunnel-visioned nature of some posters.

While I don't rely heavily on stats (I prefer to go with what I see) they tell their own tale - especially given the quality of opposition.

He's probably got as much ability as someone like De Bruyne, but he hasn't really got the brain to back it up.

I'm still hoping it'll come together at some point.

I've gotta admit, there's nothing more frustrating than him getting into the box and lashing in a terrible shot instead of squaring it to Lukaku. Seems to happens quite a bit.

From what I saw of the game today, it wasn't his greatest day. That being said, Valencia was dead crap and it wasn't Del's greatest day either. Nor Lennons. Hard to have a good game when the entirety of your front four aren't firing.
He lacks some mental strength I think, would be good to get the sports psychologist in for him to try and build him up. Would also help if the fans got off his back whenever something doesn't come off.

As for the "he's finished shouts", they're a bit off. If you're parroting the blatant Kopite's opinion, perhaps you should have a second thought about your opinion.
He's a much more complete player than the Ross that lashed in that goal vs. Norwich a couple of years ago and hes had an average season so far, not a poor one.
Koeman's honesty will be good for him I think.

The lad should realise how lucky he is to be paid millions of pounds to represent Everton. Literally anybody on here would do it for free, or even pay for the opportunity, yet he fails to drag his arse around the pitch for an hour and a half a week and lets a few scals in the crowd ruin his Saturday afternoon shift at work. I can't even feel sorry for him right now. He is six foot tall and in perfect physical shape, yet has little to no influence in 90% of the games he plays in.

In a sense. However, if he's still guilty of said brain fade & inconsistency in a year or two's time then he won't be an international, he won't be potential, and he'll be a lot less of an asset to the club/side, who (for the moment) seem to be improving in other departments.

It's up to him to improve - the fans can't improve him. Time isn't on his side for much longer.

We are actually in a precarious position with him. He has less than 2 years on his deal and is already on 65K a week. At some point very soon both the player and the club will be forced to make a decision whether to sign a new contract or be sold. At the moment I would hate to think of his valuation because his drop in form has not gone unnoticed.

Certainly wouldn't fetch what he would've done 2 years ago. If sham avaslice can see others getting in his side ahead of Barkley then I'm sure others do too.

Certainly wouldn't fetch what he would've done 2 years ago. If sham avaslice can see others getting in his side ahead of Barkley then I'm sure others do too.

I think it's also pretty telling their was no interest in him over the summer and that's when he only had 2 years left on his deal. At the right price someone would probably take a punt on him but there's no way we would sell so therefore there's no interest.

Maybe the contract negotiations are effecting him.
